Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

has a ton of them for pretty low prices. I just replaced mine solely because it was so beat up. I got a 30,000 mile one in great shape for like $45. Hint - search for 986 ones. They're listed as way cheaper than 996 ones and its the same part number.
Yeah, it's getting me to quit being lazy about repairing the glove lock and replacing the shifter at the same time. Now I have no excuse as I will have it all disassembled.
I'm just picturing one of those slapstick moments when you're in a real emergency and the handle comes off in your hand. Hopefully you were just parking!
Yep, it was just parking and a TREMENDOUS surprise! I have a driveway that is like 25 and I have to get that *last* click to get the brake to hold on it...I was just happy I was able to push the remnants of the button to release it!
God I remember having a Civic back in the day that on a 5 angle it needed that last click or it would have been half a block down the street, funny thinking back on it. Glad it didn't turn out worse for you!
Yes, but the angle is steep enough that it can actually roll back. But in retrospect, I probably can get away with a little less brake with leaving it in gear...I've just gotten used to making sure the e-brake holds any of my cars in neutral before shutting them off after either putting in gear for the sticks or in P for the slushboxes.
I have a black one you can have for the cost of shipping. Coincidentally I bought it for just the button that flew off and disappeared in my car. You'll need to swap it over but it's easy. Doesn't help chris8382, though.......
The button is pressed on and overtime it must loosen up. If you push it in and then let your thumb off it can fly off. Mine did that and I had the terrific fortune of having it ricochet off the center dash, under the driver seat, where it managed to fall in one of the tiny holes in the floor. No luck in ever getting it out. It's going to roll around in there for all eternity.
