Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've got a 1998 996.1 convertible on 165.000~ KM
in a decent condition which I'll fix up for the summer.
Install new white led behind the AC-Panel.
Order and install new plates.
Get a new spare key.
Replace key shell on the old key.
Dectane taillights installed.
Cluster bulbs replaced with white led.
TK spoiler mounted.
Interior LED, AUX-IN mounted + new keyshell.
Seats repaired + AUX IN mounted + new ashtray.
Fister D mod on the car including video from before and after.
Rearwindow fixed.
Cluster/gauge rings mounted + sidestickers.
Orange cap mod + alu pedals.
Pictures of my old 986.
Video of the roof / spoiler distance. (On request)
Dectane taillights installed, very pleased with the result.
The new spoiler was picked up today. Test mounted in on the spot, but haven't had to test mount it on the car yet, will prolly do so after tomorrows hospital visit. (many visits in a row now haha)
Once the drilling is complete and it has been test mounted on the ar to check that everything is okey, I will send it for painting with some other interior parts (will paint the plastic scopes behind the front seats with frash matt paint, paint the box cover in the centrum panel and I've recived a new "ashtray" without an ashtray like the picture below, and will paint that in the same black colour as the other plastic parts to make it fit better together.
With kind regards, Jonathan.
Testmounted the spoiler, and it looks great.
I changed all the bulbs to led as well, to get a lighter backlit light instead of the old orange and brown one.

This is what the car looks like right now. The seats are out for paintjob on the back cover on the seats, as well as vinyl repairing the leather.
Results will hopefully be awesome.
I took a bunch of pictures when I replaced the 996 shift mechanism with a 997 one. They might help you. See

The spoiler has been painted and mounted. Fits well on the car and will look much better when the car is complete. Lots of parts are still gone since I'm going to do a fister mod on the exhaust once I recive my seats back from painting.
Anyhow, hope you like it.
Mounted LED's on as much spots as I could find today. Here's pics of a few, and a pic to show how it was before.

Also recived my Novus kit from Ebay today, will spend some time fixing the plastic window during next week. And while I were at it, I replaced the shell on my key + got a new keyring for it.
Another thing I did today was installing AUX.
I bought the following parts:
5M0 973 754 (Aux-in from Volkswagen)
8K0 973 754 (Connection for the aux-in bought above)
4x cabels with the proper connections.
3.5mm AUX cable for Belkin
http://www.ebay.com/itm/201154298900?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
I started by cutting off the 3.5mm male contact from the cable once it was installed into the stereo, cut it open and attached the 3 cabels into the aux in. (If you're doing it yourself, please make sure you get the proper one for right / left etc.) Turned out great. My middle console is still at the paintshop along with my chairs, so will not be able to install it into the car just yet, but everything is working just fine!
AND YES! I've vacuumed the car once I was done with the cables etc. I decide to do it afterwards, so it's all clean now etc. Don't you guys worry. And as mentioned before, I recently bought the car, so the mess is not even mine to begin with haha.
With kind regards, Jonathan.
My seats came back from the paintshop today. The seat scrathes are gone, and they look great! I decide to keep them not fully restored after talking to the person fixing them for me, since the car isn't new and it would look wiered if they were in too good condition when the rest of the car is as it is. The plastic covers on the back of the front seats are also painted in and restored with new matt black metalic paint. They look a little scratched still on the picture for some raeson, but in person, they're in great condition and look new!
AUX was installed into the middle console/panel as well. I did however fail a little making the hole a little too big. But barely noticeable.
Also replaced the former ashtray, and the result is great. The same person who fixed my seats put new black leather on the lid where I added the AUX IN, so the black new "ashtray" part fits well with the other black details.
Hope you guys like it!
With kind regards, Jonathan.
Well, I decide not to go too hardcore and keep it "clean". I know a bigger one might have been cooler for most people since it's a porsche after all, but I'm very pleased with the look of this spoiler and I'm really glad I bought this one instead of the aftermarket gt2 spoiler.
Made the "Fister Mod" on my car today. Very pleased with the result, it sounds great!
Used a 1.5" pipe and a pre-bent corner for it and welded it together.
Porsche 996 Fister mod / hack (Before and After) - YouTube
New tyres ordered.
Waiting for new 295/30-19 Nokian hakka black.
+ 2x continental 235/35-19 from my mate.
Bought the 997 turbo wheels, will prolly look nice once they're mounted.
The car has been cleaned properly today and away for "refurb". The shop polished, waxed it etc.
So it's finally clean and good looking!
The plastic window was also fixed, pretty much all of the dcratches are gone. I gave him my novus bottles and he did what he could do with them. Really pleased with the result.
Before and after pictures of the window:
With kind regards, Jonathan.
Spent some time with the car yesterday. Mounted new rings around the cluster/gauge.
Also managed to add some clean looking stickers to the sides. Pretty pleased with the result. I like it pretty clean, and thought I'd try, and in my opinion, it wasn't too much. + new led in the roof.
And still waiting for the tyres for my 997" turbo rims.
Does anyone know if i need anything to mount the 997 turbo wheels? I've heard diffrent versions and not really sure what to trust.

I bought them from ebay. And I used super glue. A suggestion for everyone else tho would be not to use superglue and instead use melting glue since it gives less dripping and much better attachment surface.
Nice job on everything!
I added the gauge rings with the super glue that came with the set that I bought. They all fell off within about 6 months, possibly because of the cold winter weather. I cleaned everything up as best I could and reattached them with dabs of clear silicone and never had another issue. Something to keep in mind if yours start to come off.
I looked at the listing for the interior bulbs you mentioned. The heat-sink fins scare me a little bit. Are you noticing any issues with the bulbs getting very hot (hotter than incandescent)?
Leds are much colder than regular bulbs. So leda shouldn't be a heat problem for you.
And i haven't really thought of the heat. Still very cold in sweden so everything ia being cooled down
.
This is what the car looked like with the wheels on, but they hit when driving over bumps etc. So had to mount my previous wheels instead.
Looking good with new alu covers on the pedals:
Installed the orange cap mod this weekend as well. And managed to fix a broken cable to my plate light, so both of them are now working.
Bonus:
Just bought a set of those gauge rings after viewing your thread...can't wait to receive and install them to update the look of my interior...but damn we're they pricey :/

Might have sold all on that add, but press on the seller to find his latest listing if that's the case.
