Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has anyone had to remove the center stop light above the engine lid. I have a bulb gone in there on the right side. Most of the light is lit but it is annoying me and I need to change the bulb. There maybe about six bulbs in there if I could remove the light. I am afraid to crack the red lens and thought one of you may have had to do this job. Thanks in advance.
Want to know also as I am facing the same thing.
However i think there is only 1 bulb and it is reflected across the lens. Kinda crappy. Want LED to replace both center lights.
Yes - there's a cam-lock on the right side. Turn it counter-clockwise and you'll be able to pull the strip out.
With luck, the back side of the cam lock will NOT slide down into the sheet metal behind it, never to be seen again.
Take a mini screw driver and pop off the cover on the right side where there's a cutout. Turn cam lock carefully as to not break it.
If you break it, it's a good excuse to buy an LED version which should've came on there in the first place but not really surprised as some people still got tape decks in their '99-'00 models.
As I recall, Porsche sells the 3rd brake light as a complete assembly rather than selling individual bulbs. You can take the bulb to an auto parts store and find something close.
I agree that the LED 3rd brake light is a nice upgrade.
IF you do break the cam-lock, a strip of double-sided tape on the top of the housing will be sufficient to hold it in place once you get it fixed up.
Hypothetically, of course.
That little red cover on the right side was missing when I got my car. I was able to find a used one in good condition on EBAY for $25...
FWIW I meant the whole light fixture not just the little red cover...The whole end was broken off the original fixture...
My mistake. After seeing your photo of the removable piece on the right. I thought that was a bulb out. Not so after I asked my wife to hold the brake pedal down. It matches up with the left of the red strip. All's well that ends well. Thanks guys. BTW I still have a tape deck in the dash and another under the hood. lol.
