Those deck height adjustment screws are not springy/rubbery - they just adjust the height of the lid when it's closed.

Suggestion

I would think using the plastic ones would be more prone to cracking the mounting around it if it ever got stressed out pretty hard(from slamming or leaning on it).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Wondering if anyone can help with a part number? My rear decklid is a OEM aero spoiler and it no longer pops up when I pull the release. It looks like the black plugs are gone. I ordered what I thought were the right ones 999-703-140-41 OEM HOOD STOP BUFFER from pelican, but it is all rubber and the one I have has metal threads. Anyone know the part number for the ones in the first two pictures? In the third picture it shows the one I need on the left, the one I ordered on the right.

POST 2Original post

I'm actually think that the one on the right is the correct one. Have to tried to screw it in?

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12156105

Yeah,I tried, and it would not go in (easily). Maybe I'll use some more force.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12156116

The one one the right came right off the stock decklid I have. Maybe the frunk uses a similar one.

POST 6Original post

Those deck height adjustment screws are not springy/rubbery - they just adjust the height of the lid when it's closed. The two on my wing are in much newer condition, but they have pretty much no give. I think they're permanently part of the spoiler deck lid, as I have never seen a replacement part for this item. IMO any springy-ness should be from the latch mechanism, not the part you're looking at. The latch is spring-loaded and should pop open slightly when you pull the release lever.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

You may be right, SCHN3LL. I Slightly unscrewed the current stock ones, and that helped the pop up, but it also put the deck lid out of alignment and it is no longer flush. It must be something in the latch. It's been back on the road for a day, and I already have a project, ya hoo!

POST 8Original post

I got the same problem. Ordered off porschepartshub and even selected them out of the diagram. And they sent me those all rubber ones like on your picture ( the ones on my taco wing lid are the same as on yours- metal/plastic screw on with the rubber end totally wore out and cracked). I noticed the difference too but haven't looked into it- I'd be Intrested on the answer

POST 9Original post

Am I missing something here? The stoppers are mearly to prevent the deck lid from bottoming out or hitting the trunk area. They are not for spring type action in any way. The deck lid shocks is what raises them and not "pops" them up if you wanna say it that way. I would think using the plastic ones would be more prone to cracking the mounting around it if it ever got stressed out pretty hard(from slamming or leaning on it). It's not like the old school cars where you have torsion bars and once you open the trunk, it pops up.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think that is correct. At this point I would still like new stoppers to at least ensure the decklid it level and flush. I would like to get a new set as one is completely missing the tip. The all rubber ones do no fit as a substitute, they are too big to fit the hole. The pop up issue seems to be tied to the latch or decklid shock I guess. I wonder if the shocks are different for the regular deck vs the taco? I never changed the shocks as they weighed pretty much the same. Maybe the shape of the taco, with some of the weight more towards the back, needs a different shock?

POST 11Original post

If anything, the taco lid is lighter than stock lid w/spoiler assembly so it should work fine unless yours are worn out. What side is your shock attached on by chance?

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

mine is on the right side. I'll swap out the spring shock and see if that fixes it and report back.

POST 13Original post

From what I recall since I don't have the car anymore...the bumper things make tension for the latch to open. Without tension the lid won't move past the latch. I had a issue where the lid would not open so I unscrewed the bumpers to add more tension. Worked like charm. I also think that i was wrong in saying it was the one on the right. I have a taco wing on the shelf in the garage and the bumper is the one on the left.

POST 14Original post

Yea, the screw things are to adjust. I usually screw it outwards a little until the engine lid "pops" to open, but it eventually stops . The little rubber ends Are worn out on mine. I'm looking to replace the whole post (or at least the rubber caps). I ordered #9. Expecting to get the one on the Left in 996_North's comparison picture.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Let me know what you get. I ordered the same part number 999-703-140-41 from pelicanparts and got the one one the right (all rubber).

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think this is the part....996-512-987-00
