I installed Akebono pads and Pagid rotors on my Porsche last fall and have been very happy with them - although I only use them on the street.

In the past I have used "Parts Geek" for sourcing rotors and pads.

Suggestion
another vote for Textar; I used them on my Boxster for a few track days; no issues with fade (using RBF600 fluid).

Try using Rejex on the wheels and dust wont stick.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So.......These are my question for all of you. Whats the best disk brakes and pads for my 2004 porsche 996? I street drive mostly, about 8 to 9k miles per year. I track it about 3 to 4 times a year. Also What brand is Porsche's OEM? Is it Brembo, Textar or Zimmerman?
OEM is Textar and those will do you just fine for street and track use. Can be had for about $80 for fronts and less than $50 for rears. No need to mess around with anything else.
I'm due for new pads soon and have had good experience with HAWK Ceramic Pads. Am most likely going to be getting those and a set of StopTech stainless steel brake lines.
Im testing out akebonos on my highlander to see how they do there. So far pretty good. Way less dust than the pcar and they only squeal once or twice after a rainstorm gets light rust on the discs.
Agree with all previous posts. Textars work very, very well but dust like a mother. Akebonos on my car for last 4,000 and like them a lot after they heat up with a couple of purposeful stops and my wheels are much cleaner. Hawks have good bite (with some heat) and are too noisy for me on a DD.
Thanks everyone for your fast and precise response! I never wanna go cheap and I dont want high advertised pads thats over kill for a driver like me. What about Rotors? Which brand of rotors do you all personally recommend. I appreciate the feedback.
In the past I have used "Parts Geek" for sourcing rotors and pads. I would stick with Sebro or Zimmerman on the rotors.

For track use with OEM pads I got lots of brake fade (running in B group). I switched to Ferodo and have been very pleased with their performance both for street and track.
Still running OEM rotors.
I've got Akebonos all around on my BMW 335i. Bought them mainly to eliminate the huge amount of dust that OEM BMW pads produce. They solved that problem (virtually no dust at all) and also stop the car extremely well. If they make them for my 996, I'll switch to them when the time comes.
I just installed mine this weekend on my 2000 996.1. Maybe theyll work for yours?
RockAuto Akebono EUR 776. #99635193915
I was advised by another Rennlister who has installed them on his 996.2 for a few months now, almost NO brake dust.
I still had 75% life on my old pads (unknown brand), but changed them to Akebono just to eliminate the dust build-up!
Textar are very dusty. Akebonos don't produce much dust. I have had great luck with Porterfield r4-s as a combo street/track pad. Great stopping and low dust. Try using Rejex on the wheels and dust wont stick.
Zimmerman on the rotors.
Thanks for the parts reference. Looks like its for 1 set of pads (4) for the front or back - no indication of which. Are they the pads the same both front & back?

I don't need new pads on my BMW yet, but I might swap out the stock pads for Akebonos because they work well and are so much cleaner.
