I will use a CG lock on the factory seat belts for the track.

Can u actually use those seats for a harness if u track?
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Thanks to Mooty, I have a pair of 997 Gt3 seats installed in my MK1 aero 996. I absolutely love them. They do not interfere with my roll bar and are very supportive & comfortable.
The install was easy. I followed a previous post on how to install them in a 993... the wires were the same....no other mods necessary.
Guys, thanks for the kind words....I appreciate it. Terry, the seats were almost plug and play. I had to cut & splice a positive and negative wire from the seat and harness to power the incline/decline motor on the seat.
The seats have way more side bolstering than the original seats. I can't wait to track it.
So nice to see you still doing upgrades to your C2 Mark. Those seats are so nice looking. Did you end up selling your Maserati project car? If so, what is your current project? Did I say that those seats look great?
Hey Steve, it is nice to see you are still enjoying your 996. I keep waiting for my engine to go "boom", so I can buy a wrecked gt 3 or turbo and do a drive train transplant. It appears that I might be waiting for a while. I sold the Maserati a few months ago for $200k. I am currently shopping for a 930 or a Tiger...no luck yet. We are also looking to buy a retirement home in Idaho with a shop...so I might wait until we purchase another house/shop. I saw that you sold that gorgeous truck. What is next for you?
Thanks for the compliment on the seats. If I had the original sport seats, like yours, I would not have bothered.
Eight years later I'm still smiling when I drive my C2. How many miles on your Porsche Mark? Are you looking at Sunbeam Tigers for the next project? My current project is finishing a boat that I started last Nov. Have you spent time in Idaho in the past and have decided to have a dedicated shop for future projects?
May I ask what is the rollbar for? Can u actually use those seats for a harness if u track? Does the seat have a center hole for shoulder harness? Anyway looks like the lapside bolsters look much deeper than the 996 sports seats. Mike
laz74, the driver's seat airbag is intact. I left it alone and it is not hooked up to anything. When I hooked up the positive wire to power the seat motor, I was very careful to avoid the airbag wire. The passenger airbag had been deployed. I trimmed the bag down to the base and epoxied the airbag cover closed. It did not appear easy to remove the entire bag.
Steve, I feel the same way about my 996. My miles are a couple thousand shy of yours. I would love to hear about or see your boat project. We did a road trip to Idaho and loved it. My next house will have a shop with a lift for my future car projects. Here is a picture of a project car that I bid on this morning (and did not win). I am pretty open to different car projects and Tigers are high on my list.
Mike, the roll bar is for roll over protection only. I will use a CG lock on the factory seat belts for the track. The 997 sport seats do not have a provision for a shoulder harness. The seats have way more bolstering (bottom and back) than the original 996 standard seats.
Slinger26, if you were referring to the seats, thanks.
Irocman, if he was referring to Mike's signature, I agree.
I take it the cg lock works on the lapbelt right? If u want both lap and shoulder belt tite u could negate using cg altogether by pulling seat back abit then yank seatbelt til it locks then move your seat forward at your normal position. Very tite. Mike
Steve, thanks for posting the pictures of your boat. It is absolutely gorgeous. You should be proud. The woodwork is beautiful. I hope you get lots of hours of pleasure out of it. One of the requirements for our retirement home is that it be riverfront.
Mike, thanks for the info. I will give it a try.
