The really sad kart is that this is the only blemish on and otherwise extremely clean interior.

It really might be less expensive to replace those parts in Metropol blue, since that is an option that is at least blue and you wouldn't have to pay for someone to prep and paint.

Im not dead set on replacing it with as shipped trim but given that the passenger airbag trim strip and the cluster Clamshell trim is in the same woodgrain, I either need to do it all, or go back with wood on the horseshoe.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Good day everyone !
Im still finding my way around to all the great sources for info as a new member. So, please excuse the low post count and question.
I purchased a really clean 996 Cab, and it has the Natural Brown leather (full) with faux woodgrain.
I guess its common for the horseshoe and dash trim to peel or crack, and the P.O. removed the pieces as they came off. Thus, the area around the AC and radio looks horrible. The really sad kart is that this is the only blemish on and otherwise extremely clean interior. MY 2000 w/48k miles.
Fortunately, it was factored into the sale price. Unfortunately, answers as to how or where to source affordable replacements are sparse to unobtainium.
Im not dead set on replacing it with as shipped trim but given that the passenger airbag trim strip and the cluster Clamshell trim is in the same woodgrain, I either need to do it all, or go back with wood on the horseshoe. I looked at the usually online sources for wraps, vinyl etc but nothing jumps out at me. The full dash sets are exorbitantly expensive for what they are.
I have to imagine someone has solved this in the aftermarket , right ? Or at least done a refurb or refinish on these parts ?
I dont want a tacky wood wrap, but Id otherwise be satisfied to have it wrapped in a closely matching brown leather or have it replaced with salvage parts and keeping these as spares or exchange as cores.
Can anyone with more experience than me offer Advice, encouragement or even out-of-box solutions ?
Since the center console / shifter console is Body Color (Ocean Blue Met.) I have even considered just pulling all the wood dash trim out and having it prepped and painted to match. I can live with the shift **** and eBrake not matching.
Thanks in advance for all the help !

It really might be less expensive to replace those parts in Metropol blue, since that is an option that is at least blue and you wouldn't have to pay for someone to prep and paint. The bezel in my '02 is a single part versus yours, which is three parts and I replaced that because, even black, it looked worn. It was easy to do, except for getting the lighter out. Need a jig that holds the clear plastic bezel around the lighter from moving while you hit the lighter from behind with a mallet. The back of a flashlight I had was just the right size. The flashlight is a a NEBO Slyde+ and the end cap is the perfect size for the job, plus the flashlight is handy.
I am kind of with you on that.
If the little trim along the right side of the dash wasn't such a PITA to remove, I would probably just have it all painted together.
Thank you for the responses, it's clear there's no one 'easiest' way to approach this problem. I may have to just be patient and find replacements as i can.
This is hydrodipped ? Pardon my ignorance but is that where they lay a film on a tub of water and then plunge the work piece into it ?
If so Im shocked how it turned out ! That looks great.
Porsche has discontinued Metropol Blue interior pieces as of 2023. Maybe ther is some oils stock somewhere if you are lucky. It stinks because my wife’s car has Metropol Blue interior!

I have the Natural Brown interior extended leather very extended, it was too much so i decided to carry the painted lower
aka rear center console color which is black in my car up to the horsehoe trim, for me i picked up some carbon fiber pieces and then did black plastic on the rest, everything i got i obtained used... i am still considering changing the lower pads next to the CD holder to black, im just waiting for some to show up used on here.
Who doesn't love carbon fiber?!
Sure, you can go the carbon fiber route which is pricey, or dip the part as proposed above, or buy a used replacement wood part on ebay.
But you can also buy a set of all the plastic rubbery parts on ebay (color doesn't matter), for the cheapest price you can, then strip off the rubbery paint and repaint each part to match the color of your exterior paint or any other color of choice and modernize the look.
At least their are options.
