This is not a probability of success.

I have a 996 muffler with the gillet tips wondering if it's an easy swap if I replace with them with a new set of the Tequipment EP4110 (will look for the ones with the flared ends).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 99 C2 996 with a X54 code for the stainless steel exhaust tips. I'm wondering if anyone knows which tips these would be? Are they the single chrome exhaust tips or the dual tip ones? The previous owner had misplaced the stock tips and only seem to have one and but it's showing the EP4110 code which I believe are Tequipment tips so wondering if these are in fact original to the 99 with the X54 code? From what I can read from a few posts some people seem to say the X54 code should be dual tip? Single: https://www.suncoastparts.com/produc...611198200.html Dual: https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/996TIPS.html

POST 2Original post

On 99 models the x54 option is the tequipment EP4110 large oval tips..

Thanks for confirming. Curious if you are able to tell if this exhaust tip is for the passenger or drivers side? Looking at photos online it looks like the top part doesnt have the spout as well (red circle), wondering if this can still be used at all or this was cut off by the previous owner...

POST 4Original post

It's hard to tell from the angle. When mounted on the car, the pipe that connects to the exhaust angles up and towards the outside of the car... so the last photo is of the driver's side. If it's missing the flared end, then someone cut it off. You could have an exhaust shop cut it down even more and weld on a new flared end.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, do you know if the can be installed to any 996 muffler so long as the tips are taken off correctly or did these tequipment tips require any special hardware? I have a 996 muffler with the gillet tips wondering if it's an easy swap if I replace with them with a new set of the Tequipment EP4110 (will look for the ones with the flared ends).

POST 6Original post

I can't speak to the exhaust for every 996, but on my 1999 I simply unbolted the original tips and bolted the X54 tips in their place -- nothing special about installing them.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
