Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

shows a couple of concerning items. One of my sons is moving to the UK and is looking at a 2000 996 base for sale there (VIN WP0ZZZ99ZYS603996). The body and interior is in pretty good condition. The service log book has been used and the car was serviced regularly. He had an inspection done which came back with these photos. Do any of these look concerning? This car has

had an IMS bearing fix. It's a 22 year old car, so I would not expect it to be pristine under there. Any other suggestions based on your experience with a 996? TIA.
While it does seem like there is a RMS leak, a lot of it (yellow stuff) looks to be like cosmoline, which if Porsche is like Mercedes, puts on their cars when theyre new.
He's gonna buy it. I'll try to remember to post how it all works out...He wants a model year 2000 because when he comes back to the US it should be 2025 or later and the car can be imported with zero hassles since it is 25 years old and is on the 'okay to import' list. If he gets it over here and doesn't want it, I can turn it into a novel right-hand drive track car

For 22 years and has never been cleaned it looks great ..Yes I can tell it has never been cleaned by the amount of road grim build up...and the very very minor weepage will finally build up with dirt over a number of years.....
If he intends to take it back to the the US he could consider getting a LHD one from mainland Europe. Slightly more expensive but that pays for itself as soon as he offers it for sale in North America should the time come.
Something else to consider: Overtaking when the steering wheel is on the same side as where you drive on the road is a pain in the back side.
