True words right there, although there are coilovers that allow you to adjust ride height without sacrificing shock travel, which is indeed key.

Ohlins, Fortune Auto and Feal all offer this feature and were on my shortlist when replacing / upgrading suspension.

I went with feel 441+ with custom setup 5kg and 10kg springs on my 996.2, the rear is just about perfect but the front can be a little harsh over them bumps so I have a 4kg spring set for the front on order

I'd try to find someone with a 996 or a 997 on these and get a test drive in.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey everyone,
I'm starting to budget out a suspension setup for my 996. I've driven cars with coilovers (Ceika) and the damping over rough roads feels worse than my stock, aged suspension. I want an option thats going to lower the car 1-1.5 in. and be damped very well. I live in Atlanta so the roads are not great and I want to combine daily comfort usability and high speed damping so when I take it up in to the mountains it performs well.
Thanks!

I have Olins R&T and although they're not a supple ride and you feel stuff they do a fantastic job on rough roads, especially at speed. What you really need is a coilover with a shock that will be able to react quickly to sharp bumps. The Ohlins shocks do that very well. I feel like Atlanta has a great Porsche scene. I'd try to find someone with a 996 or a 997 on these and get a test drive in. Ride quality is super subjective.

Thanks for starting this discussion. I'm looking into suspension tuning as well, as I've got access to an alignment machine, opportunities to try things out and searching for combinations that address these exact parameters. As stated, I think, identifying ride height is where you start, then dial it in from there; everything is a compromise moving forward it seems. Onward
I bought my car it had a great suspension extremely comfortable and adjustable JIC/Cross it was also able to slam my car to the ground and still ride good
but I got a deal from ZBOMB for his barely used OHLINS R/T and while it’s a substantial difference in size from the JIC it too offered me a much more solid suspension feel the Ohlins have great adjustment I’m at 17front 14rear out of 30 it gives me supple ride yet controlled for NYC roads and with a quick twist I’m in race mode ride
love them and 4 of my friends bought them after driving my car
