Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I told the owner that I recommend 4 hours to install UAOS whether 996.1 or 996.2 , there is only 6 intake bolts, I can't see anyone spending 11 hours to get one bolt out..I think he spent 10 hours reading the " Tips and Tricks" thread...lol

I think I left the AOS a little loose, got the intake on, then tightened the AOS.

then get a long 5mm ball driver from harbor Freight and I used my 1/4 inch torque wrench to torque it.

Since the long ball driver set is 3/8 inch I must have used my 3/8 to 1/4 adapter

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Not sure though if '02 is different from '99 but I managed to get a wrench there by using 1/4 socket, a small wrench (used those that are used for bicycles for example) and a long extensions and a mirror.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Either way, this did the trick for me and was super easy.
I've been replacing the AOS on my '02 Cab, knew it would be a horror show, figured it couldn't be worse than the expansion tank, Wrong. I have the replacement stock AOS bolted in, but for the life of me I can't get a wrench of any sort on the intake bolt nearest the front of the car. There is not enough clearance between the bolt and the AOS to fit a socket, trying to spin it down with the tip of finger for more room but no joy so far. Anyone have any ideas?
There's a lot of discussion in the UAOS tips & tricks thread about this exact issue
For me, and as per the general advice, I had to use a 1/4" socket and driver. I originally had a 3/8 with adapter, which was way too big. I also had to think about the order. I think I left the AOS a little loose, got the intake on, then tightened the AOS.
Does your engine have the e-torx bolts or allen? Either way, this did the trick for me and was super easy. If you scroll through the tips an tricks thread, I wrote a whole DIY with photos.
Yes, I don't think you could do any work on the AOS without lowering the engine. Problem is nothing fits between the bolt and the AOS. I was thinking of loosening the AOS, has that been done before?

Been there - done that. Not sure though if '02 is different from '99 but I managed to get a wrench there by using 1/4 socket, a small wrench (used those that are used for bicycles for example) and a long extensions and a mirror. It did require a bit of pushing but coming from straight above and pressing a little that socket fit just fine although it's a tight spot.
Yes the UAOS/AOS install is different on the 996.1 compared to 996.2
996.1 bolts in from the side, the "bitch bolt" is not an issue....
996.2 bolts down from the top, the "bitch bolt" is an issue...
I just got off the phone with an Indy owner who had a Journeyman Tech who struggled for 11 hours in a UAOS install on a 996.2 .. The "bitch bolt" was his issue...
