Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Got home from the first good drive of my car in weeks only to notice coolant flowing from the rear. Not sure its the hose but assuming its a good time to replace the hose, thermostat, and water pump. (See pic) Whilst looking at the coolant leak, I noticed a drop of oil on the garage floor. Ive not had oil leak previously and I dont think they are related. However, the oil leak gives me more concern and is harder to pinpoint. Anybody seen oil pool on the lower bolt of the drivers side cam bank? There are signs of oil all over the end of the shield, but I cant see traces of oil coming from higher up that match the fresh liquid that is pooling at the bottom. Ive attached some pics but would love some advice/help on this one

POST 2Original post

Lilkely your spark plug tube orings. Change all six for that side. Leave the other side alone unless you want to wake up sleeping dogs.

POST 3Original post

And 2 posts... Btw x2 on above. Spark plug tubes.

POST 4Original post

Your coolant leak appears to be water pump related. Look above the hoses for damp area, you can just see some in your picture if you look where you can see the belt.

sorry about the two posts! Hit the wrong back button and subsequently discovered you cant delete a post. Thanks for the input, much appreciated. Sounds like its time for my first attempt at a spark plug change on a 996

POST 6Original post

Some have reported that the metal spark plug tubes might be better than the stock, plastic ones. Something to consider if you are going in there.
