Bentley says to replace with new since those are self-locking but how - so in that case it makes sense.

When I removed that tube those bolts were relatively tight and I had to use much more force than to remove a typical 10mm bolt (10Nm torque).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I needed remove that oil pickup tube from the sump because there were two flakes of something that were like a size of grain of sand and because of that really stuck into that grille. When I removed that tube those bolts were relatively tight and I had to use much more force than to remove a typical 10mm bolt (10Nm torque). Other than that there was some resistance when I unscrew the bolts as well. Glued bolts...? Tried to lookup those from the workshop manual and Bentley but that is a bit of needle in the haystack - esp. with the workshop manuals. Bentley says to replace with new since those are self-locking but how - so in that case it makes sense. Should I put blue Loctite there to make them "self-locking" Loctite 243 could work (even in oily envs) but not sure why it wasn't there originally as there's not that blue tone on those bolts <- that made me wonder about the characteristics of that "self-locking" because typically you see that blue tone if they come out of the factory like that. Those bolts looked like a regular bolts - or maybe a bit whiteish.... So question to pros - how have you successfully reinstalled those oil suction / pickup tube bolts so that tube stays there properly? Edit: ahaa... -> You Tube

POST 2Original post

I could not find a torque value for those specific M6 bolts, problem is that the o-ring compresses well before 10 Nm is attained. I used blue loctite after cleaning threads with brake cleaner and “about” 10 Nm.
