Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Suggestion
Temporarily you could replace the smart switch with a standard relay and see how things go.
Leading evidence: 'Replace smart switch' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace smart switch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone, I had a smart top fitted to my 996 cab by a porsche specialist a few weeks ago. All fine and dandy but in the last few days when locked with the roof up the alarm goes off sometimes an hour after locking sometimes after two hours. Also when the car is unlocked opening the drivers door or passenger door occasionally will make the roof come down. Any ideas?
What is a "smart top"? You need to plug a Durametric on it to get the alarm codes. That will narrow things down. Or, take it back to your Porsche specialist for diagnoses.
The smart top is a relay switch that replaces the one located behind the rear seats that operates the roof to go up and down. The factory fitted one will only operate if you are stationary with the hand break on.
The smart top relay allows the opening and closing of the roof while the car is moving...useful if it pours down with rain while on the move and nowhere to pull over and stop.
I suspect with mine, it could be a software or firmware glitch which I can have addressed when I have the car next serviced. Or it might just be out of sync. When opening or closing the roof it goes through a cycle. If the cycle is interuppted it will stop moving. Pressing the opening button on the dash while it's in mid floor or opening a door is enough to interrupt the cycle.
The alarm system is independent of the operation of the smart top.
I was thinking that a scan by Durametric might reveal a bad microswitch on the opening/closing of the top, something not having to do with the alarm system. Temporarily you could replace the smart switch with a standard relay and see how things go.
It could be something as simple as the console door not being seated properly or a moth flying around tripping the motion detector. It will be difficult to diagnose without a Durametric.
