the car was well serviced and i have a list from shop that worked on the car - the owner of the shop couldn't give me the records but gave me dates/mileage and services performed below - **the car is running on it's original IMS bearing - when i spoke to the shop owner he explained that there was never a reason to replace it as it was checked when clutch was replaced and never any play.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

all, so a 30' diesel Luhrs boat has come on the market close to my home and i must have it. i sold my other 03 C4S to "thin_concrete" not long ago and missed it so much that i replaced it with my current C4S 2 months ago that i found in california. i know it all sounds nuts but that's life - i've been known to sell my later model porsches after only owning them a short time but i do love the hunt. it's not like i won't be able to find another C4S - unlike my 359 and early 911 **located in seattle wa. - this is a great car for anyone looking for a C4S at a really great price. since the photos are so large and i can't figure out how to minimize them. i can email them directly to you - please contact me directly - no PM's: [email removed] i believe in being totally upfront and forthright in my description - the only reason i purchased this car was i missed mine so much - this boat is a rare bird and extremely hard to find. this is a california car first owned by a doctor and then i purchased from previous owner was a sacramento calif police officer who is also a 356 owner - we bonded well! he retired and is having health issues. this C4S is a great example - vin#WP0AA29923S623580 - clear/clean title in my name - seal grey/full black leather with heated seats and the rear wiper - very presentable and looks beautiful - this car runs and drives like new - it does have some imperfections on the body as follows: -carfax showed minor accident in 2004 - front bumper was backed into in parking lot and never repaired - very small blemish as seen in photo - it is there but i wouldn't touch it. also some small scratches and a few tiny tiny dings here and there from normal wear which are very hard to notice unless pointed out. the very lower rear plastic inner fender well cap has a crack - again very hard to notice unless on a lift. small scratches under rear license plate. i also just notice that the passengers side rear seat bottom pad has some cracking - i always keep the rear seat backs in the down position and only noticed this recently. the car was well serviced and i have a list from shop that worked on the car - the owner of the shop couldn't give me the records but gave me dates/mileage and services performed below - **the car is running on it's original IMS bearing - when i spoke to the shop owner he explained that there was never a reason to replace it as it was checked when clutch was replaced and never any play. the car runs like it is new. service history from Franks German Auto in Sacramento Calif: - 3/12/2010 75,182 - Full 75K service - 10/25/2010 82,500 - Oil service - 3/7/11 - Ignition switch replacement - 9/29/11 - 90K - Full service, clutch install & replace rms - 10/4/11 - 90,828 - Reseal front differential output shaft seals - 12/7/11 - 91,143 - Replaced battery - 5/11/12 - 95,703 - water pump, Thermostate, coolant flush, oil change, Charge A/C - 12/03/12 - 104,791 - 105K full service - 2/13/13 - 106,939 - Reset throttle adaptations - 1/30/14 - 112,051 - Oil service, replace all wipers, replace water pump, replace outer cv boots(R&L), replace sensor links for ride height sensors - 3/19/15 - 113,405 - Oil service, brake fluid flush, replace 1 key fob - 3/27/15 - 4 New michelin tires and new OEM german windshied due to rock chip in drivers vision. - all 4 wheels refinished by PO 3 months ago i have both keys, original owners manuals in it's leather pouch, all tools/spare tire, etc are intact and never used. includes really nice porsche car cover too. - if you feel uncomfortable driving on the original IMS bearing, spend the $1600 and replace it - you'll still be in the car less than $22K - that math should make any buyer feel happy! $19,750 firm - if anyone questions my integrity please PM thin_concrete and he can tell you how are car deal went not long ago **car can be shipped to calif for about $650 open carrier all the best!

POST 2Original post

So pretty what a great deal. But where is the phone holder I just don't understand where the hell you keep your phone. Seriously very good looking car. Obviously well maintained. Price is a steal! Good luck

POST 3Original post

Seems like a nice car Goovzilla, and I think you will sell it pretty easily at less than 20K, even with 114K miles. If I was in the market for this, I would be very interested. Regarding the maintenance log, I'm curious about why the clutch and RMS needed to be replaced twice in less than 10K miles, and likewise the water pump??

POST 4Original post

Quotes source post: 12510009

Made me also wonder if the Maintenance records are legit... Also not the best of deals for a car with 114,000 miles on it no matter what mods have been added. Not saying it is over priced, just saying there are a lot un-modded miles cars out there for same money. Years to me doesnt matter. Miles do. The year in this case gets squashed because of the milage.

POST 5Original post

Boy that was a record time. Dejavu all over again. Best of luck. BTW, your gonna have to knock it down some due to the original pumpkins which seriously devalues this car.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12510148

my mistake, copying off my service list - clutch replaced at 90K miles - not again at 95K - only replaced 1x

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 12510148

i must say you sound pretty clueless - if you're going to crap on someones for sale post at least come across somewhat educated - maybe if you spelled "mileage" properly and made some sense i would have given you some credit, but find me a sub $20K C4S in this condition and i'll buy it for you - 114K is nothing on these cars especially well serviced examples remember this isn't a run of the mill narrow body - this is a C4S which puts it in a different category

Man, take it easy on the non-native speaker. I too would be all over that car if I had a slot in the garage open. Good luck. See you in a few months when you buy the next one. Heh - you can't sell to him unless you "accidentally" give him the title to a '71 Winnebago.

POST 17Original post

Even with 114k miles I think you are giving it away at that price. Wish I needed another Porsche.

At that price who cares about need? Trying to convince my wife that black is not the only color option out there

POST 19Original post

So, a photographer can't figure out how to make the pictures smaller??? Great-looking car, GLWS!

POST 20Original post

Tempting. C4S at this price and in Seal Gray. GLWS.

POST 22Original post

Excellent price. Agree on the mileage: for that price point, who cares? Replace the IMS, drive it another 85,000, and sell it for $18,000. Heck, if I had the garage space, I'd buy it as a spare for when my '03 C4S is dirty! GLWS. Great opportunity.

I had an absolutely seamless and straightforward transaction when I bought groove's previous 4S. The car was exactly as described and he couldn't have been more helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another car from him. If anyone needs any additional information, don't hesitate to PM me.

POST 27Original post

If I was looking I'd be all over this car. '02 C2 here with 148,000 happy miles, with any more to go!

POST 28Original post

Good luck on your sale Groovezilla. So how many 996s have you owned and sold? Did you actually drive any of them?

POST 29Original post

I'd wish you luck but at that price you won't need it. Why such a low price? Even considering miles and age this was an 80K car when it was new. What comps are you using? Cap'n you need to get back into a 4S.

POST 30Original post

All of your cars should have a Gzilla badge on the back! GLWS!

POST 31Original post

Quotes source post: 12510373

Did I say it was overpriced.? Oh so it's worth it because it has a wide body even with 114000 miles on it. Somewhat educated???. So now we are showing our education certificates? Buying a 996 in the first place puts you in a higher education status to a guy who buys a 997? You my friend are looking at getting a deal. No matter what mileage is on the car. It's priced right because of the mileage. Oh and YOU giving me credit. There's a laugh. BTW I would'nt have you buy me anything. I am very pleased with what I have thanks. A 1999 rear wheel drive convertible with matching hard top. In my opinion the best of the 996 models for obvious reasons. I take the so called service records with a pinch of salt. The seller can't even get those correct.

i've owned 2 narrow bodies(99 & 01) and 2 C4S's both 2003. of course i drive them but as many RL's know i really like the hunt years ago my hobby was collecting/restoring 356's that i would find in california - i live in seattle and my photography studio was in SF calif. back then you could find nice 356 drivers for $5-$7K. my 1959 super sunroof, which i found in san rafael 25 years ago, i had restored in ukiah calif. - fellow named dink farmer is one of the best painters on earth. i miss those days but have enjoyed my 356 which i keep at our place in southeast florida in our climate controlled garage.

You seriously sound like you have no idea what your talking about. At some pone point you (Now) wave the white flag and move on, frankly speaking your quickly loosing credibility at this forum. POST 42Original post

I lose a little more credibility on this forum for speaking my mind. Other posters suck each others ***** by not speaking theirs. I don't give a toss about what posters think of my comments. REALLY. Sheep to the slaughter.

POST 44Original post

Hey gnat and Valkuri, "Kiss my ****!" Did I get that right Hurdi? Most fun "for sale" thread ever. Has anybody bought this car yet? If no, why the hell not? Everybody but Hurdi thinks it's a fantastic deal - which equates to 100% confirmation. BTW, Groov, for your next Porsche, would you mind picking up a guards red or speed yellow 996tt with a 6 speed and black interior?

POST 45Original post

Quotes source post: 12513451

According to Groovy (really great guy) there are a couple of other people talking to him too. I have a guy local that I want to put eyes on it for me, but he's tied up until late this week. Told Groovy to make the deal if the others get there first, it's either meant to be or not. We'll see If it is meant to be, anyone have suggestions about what the hell I should do with 3 Porsche's and no garage?

Give me one of the Porsches - then you only have to worry about 2.

You of all people know Groovy's number so you could have a matching set He might even be willing to budge a little and give you a frequent buyer discount

gnat(david)is first in line - i have 3 others interested, one of which is a local person that i just got off the phone with. i like to be fair and gnat gets first crack at it - if gnat's guy has not looked at it by monday next week, local fellow brad is next in line thanks to all for your kind remarks.

barn - we have a beach house on a private island about 30 minutes n of seattle - great funky little place we've owned for sometime - purchased from an estate and was a fixer. years ago i restored this 28' uniflite salty dog(1st photo) - single diesel with bow thruster and it came in handy for cruising as well as taking materials to work on the house i sold the salty dog 6 yrs ago because we wanted something smaller to beach - outboard was really the only answer so i got the 18' bell boy in next photo - cool deco color and great little runabout me and wife would now like to cruise a bit as well as the ability to beach boat - the 30' luhrs alura has a keel which protects the prop when beached - mainship makes an identical boat but BOTH are extremely hard to find on the west coast - 100's for sale on east coast and mexico. guy who owns the boat is currently in alaska and can't do a deal until he returns - my wife is restricting my toy allotment so porsche must go since it's #3 - of course after seversal dinners out and my cunning ways i'll be back in a C4S or turbo soon

POST 54Original post

Don't take it personally, kc: I come from a family full of lawyers, so it's like family dinner conversation, for me... Groovzilla, there was another string wherein the OP was looking at a C4s versus a C2. Hope he has PMd you, as your car seems a better opportunity for him than what else he's considering.

POST 56 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

since "ignat" requested i show the car to other perspective buyers (since his friend who lives in seattle couldn't look at car until later this week) second in line was local buyer/RL member "studlee" who purchased the porsche C4S last night. thanks for everyone's interest.

POST 57Original post

Congrats Groovy. Sorry it couldn't work out for me, but it's probably for the best on a few levels

POST 58Original post

Thanks Groovzilla! it was fun meeting you and thanks for the car!

it's great to have the car go to a person that really appreciates it. glad the car is in good hands!

POST 64Original post

Wow, that was fast. You should write an article or something on selling for all the other 996 owners.

At least part of that was due to me. He was being a standup guy and giving me first dibs since I got to him first. Once I knew I couldn't get my friend over there (just wanted to make sure it sounded as good as it looks) until later this week I told him to take another offer if it could be closed sooner. He still persisted until (I'm guessing) I sent him another mail last night after he posted that he had the local buyer if I fell through. Groovy is indeed a great guy to deal with and I'm sorry we couldn't do business. Sounds like studlee will actually enjoy the car for what it is while I wanted it for it's price and was going to have to figure out what to do with it once I got it home. It would have been loved and enjoyed, but not enough (our current one only sees about 30 miles a week on a good week). I'm glad it appears to be going to a good home.

POST 70Original post

Groove, you like big boats and Porsches, good combination. Here are some of my smaller boats, one that I made . Fast sale for you, congrats. Now go buy that boat.

POST 71Original post

I just bought it cause groovy is a cool guy and I want to be his friend.

Don't forget to post a pic on "show your seal grey" thread. LOL Just make sure you do something different to it like add fuzzy dice or Porsche crest valve stems before as we don't wanna see another stock 996.
