If you are aware of these lenses and were thinking of ordering a set, I would strongly recommend that you hold off for now.

If you're trying to create a new light, you're at $1,000 for lenses, probably $1,000 for a high quality (used) body assembly.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi everyone,
As some of you may know, recently brand-new replacements have appeared on the market for the 996.2 with headlight washers.
I was of course very excited about this news as sometimes the lenses on these lights are beyond restoration.
I ordered a set immediately, and it took a little bit as they are made by a gentleman in Azerbaijan.
Received them yesterday. They look very nice in terms of finish. Also, they are the turbo style meaning they don't have those vertical profiles in them.
I just tested the fit of the inserts inside these lenses as well as their fit in the channel of the housings.
I came here to say that there are still a few issues to be sorted. The main issue I found is that the lens doesn't fit perfectly inside the channel on the housing.
If you are aware of these lenses and were thinking of ordering a set, I would strongly recommend that you hold off for now.
Don't get me wrong, I have faith in Elmar, the brains behind this product, and his ability to get these lenses right. As the 996 headlight guru of sorts, I'm in touch with Elmar and I will help him
in any way I can to
fix the issues I found.
This is very common with the first article of any new product. I had the connector blocks for my 996.2 headlight harnesses 3D scanned and 3D printed, and it took quite a few iterations before they were a perfect fit.
I'll keep you posted from time to time in this thread on our progress to get these to where they need to be. It is a very promising development, and he is also thinking about making the 996.1 lenses down the road.
More later!
IMO this is an incredibly great sign for the health of the 996 platform and ecosystem. Folks stepping up to meet the demand for upgrades and replacements of these aging, (sub)model-specific parts speaks volumes to the enthusiast community and possibilities to keep these cars in top condition.
Why doesn't anyone post a link for these replacement lenses? Perhaps some would find them acceptable as opposed to what they currently have that is 22+ years old?
Curious.
YMMV
It looks like these guys are from Canada but the 996.2 lenses are a 3rd party vendor mentioned by Adrian, form Azerbaijan. I wonder if we'll be able to lower the price by organizing a group buy?
Pricing is definitely a problem. If you're trying to create a new light, you're at $1,000 for lenses, probably $1,000 for a high quality (used) body assembly. Another $1,000+ for a rebuild kit from Adrian (with new projector from Retrofit)....and you're trying to solve for Porsche's outrageous $3,000 price tag for replacements...
Trust me, I'm not overly perfectionistic by saying they are not quite there yet: In their current iteration, THEY SIMPLY DON'T FIT on the housing properly.
Most 996 owners are reluctant to crack open these headlights, so doing not only that but then replacing them with something that doesn't fit is not a good idea.
The analogy of trying to fit cheap "carbon fiber" parts on your car without major bondo work comes to mind.
There are other issues to be solved as well: Most of you will be shocked to see the state of the headlight inserts, especially from non-Turbo headlights that have the "grooves" in the lens.
These grooves damage the chrome on the insert over time and that will be super visible underneath these non-grooved lenses.
Yes. That price does not include shipping either.
I reached out to them....And they only have lenses with the washer cutout. My car is a halogen car. I do have a porsche left side lens, brand new from some offering years ago. I had hoped to find a brand new right hand side for my car but have had no luck in the last 8 years of searching. The lens I have is from some race version of the headlight assembly.
In reaching out to Klearz, since they are in Canada, I had hoped to get the lenses at a more reasonable price. They are expensive and only come with the cutout unfortunately.
I also keep looking for decent lights for sale and no luck. I keep thinking about ordering a new set at the dealer for the insane price but I like the look of my lights more than any new light:
Here are pics of the lens that I have. Wish I could get the right side too....I will say that the quality of this lens in the pic I just took is way better that the after market ones....
