Adjusted the hand (emergency) brake when I was doing the job.
Leading evidence: 'Adjust hand (emergency) brake' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Replaced the anti squeal shims and pad wear indicators.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Has any of you posters ever used these rotors?

I took the car in for annual inspection and it failed to one rear rotor being below limit. I am doing the job myself and need advice for the best rotors. I do NOT track the car but tend to drive very spirited most of the time. Any advice will be well appreciated. Thanks.
That looks like a very expensive Ebay set ^^.

I bought one of the Ebay rotors+ brake pads kits for my acura. Paid total of $125 for all four corners. Have not had any problems in the last 10k miles.
I have purchased several sets of Sebro rotors from this Rennlist Sponsor;

I've been a satisfied customer, both with the product and the service.
+ 1 for Sebro ... They are oem supplier .. Installed on my front wheels .. Extremely happy. Textar pads are also oe equivalent ...save big over Porsche with essentially the same thing
^^ That's what I do. I can probably find cheaper, but they're not THAT expensive @ Pelican, and I get the benefit of knowing that the drilling wasn't done by some guy in his basement...
I have sebro on the way. There was right rear one mil below par and the other side one mil over par so I am changing them both. Will keep my eye on the caliper.
My memory may be dodgy, but I _believe_ that 2mm is the wear limit for 996 rotors. If that's accurate, a 2mm difference is essentially the allowable wear between a new rotor and a "bad" rotor. That seems like a significant variance between the two sides.
I presume that the ones on the car are the original rotors and yes there is a significant difference between the wear. I will have to double check things in that area as I change the new ones out. I did change the brake pads on the rear about 18 months ago. Replaced the anti squeal shims and pad wear indicators. The front pads looked real good so didn't do those. However I did find a cross threaded Caliper bolt on a front one. So some incompetent bastard has previously been messing with the brakes as I cannot imagine Porsche production line making that mistake. Hopefully the uneven wear was rectified when I changed the rear pads and bled the whole system.
Since Ivangene is no longer here with his unusable GT2 parts, we need someone else to step up to the plate. And I'd imagine that would be Hurdigurdiman.
1 mil or 1 mm? 1 mil is 0.001" or 0.025mm. That kind of variation wouldn't be any concern to me. 1mm low and 1mm high is a 2mm difference. That would concern me.
It says on the failing report, Left front 27.12 Right front 27.13 left rear 22.1 and the one at fault right rear 21.9 those were the readings... at the top of the report it says DS rear rotor at min spec
PS rear below min spec of 22mm (that being the 21.9) so is that a significant difference to be worried about one of the rear calipurs?

Found it very easy following the videos. Easier than replacing brake pads. Adjusted the hand (emergency) brake when I was doing the job.
I didn't think so Macster thanks. The brakes have always felt sharp and keen. No pull either way on hard braking. I am sure I would have felt a pull if a caliper was not working up to par.
Nice work! Curious, do you prefer using video vs. a written articles for DIY step-by-steps? Sometimes I actually think it is an advantage to see the work being done in a vid rather than still shots.

Slightly off topic, but your state vehicle inspector is jacking with a 911 over that little difference in rotor thickness?
How do those driving the $2000 wonders from Joe's Used Cars ever make it to the road.
Glad I live in "the (sorta) Live Free or Die state of Indiana" where we are free to drive whatever will start.

Have a friend in the inspection office or take your car to a bad section of the town to be "inspected" for an extra fee. NYC/PA have the annual inspections, easiest way to avoid them is to register the car in Jersey. Jersey only has smog+ OBD scan, no inspection BS.
