Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

This is another beautiful thing about the IMS Solution, running clearance is set to take these things into consideration, and there's no *****, or races in the equation.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, Everyone,
In 2017, Porsche Club of America produced a series of videos with Jake Raby on the topic of IMS bearings in the Porsche M96 and M97 engines. That series quickly became some of the most popular videos PCA has produced to date. Since then, people have asked Jake to produce a series that expands on the subject with more technical detail and what better way than with an actual engine that has found
its
way to Flat 6 Innovations by some very unique circumstances.
Jake Raby personally purchased a one-owner 2003 Porsche 996 with just 29,000 original miles that was listed for sale on PCA. In the video series, Jake will take you through the entire process from failure
analysis, disassembly, and complete reconstruction of the M96 engine. The resurrected 3.6 liter factory engine will be transformed into a Raby R40, Stage II, 4 liter Street and Track Performer engine.
We hope you will check out our upcoming series called "Focus On: IMS Bearing Failure" that will be posted soon on YouTube. We'll provide links here when they become public.
All the best,
Bobby

This one is the perfect story.. We gave the original owner the chance to review the content prior to it being posted, after final editing.
He has decided that he wants to tell his story, and all the things that went into the consideration of deciding to sell me the car, rather than having us (or someone else) reconstruct the engine. His deliberation period was over 1 year long. That interview will likely be part 6 or 7 of the series, as we are now filming part 4, (engine disassembly) and part 5 (component inspection/ discarding) once I return from vacation, next week.
This will likely be a 12-14 part series, all filmed and presented first hand.
Look for the first part to be released soon, maybe even later today. I'm getting a lot done at the beach :-)
I replaced bearings in motorcycle wheels, bicycle linkage and bottom brackets etc. several times I noticed the bearings weren't perfectly smooth after a tight install....you could feel a cogging effect. if you removed the bearing, it was back to smooth. So I wonder if some of these IMS bearings fail because the press fit is too tight
Yes, the housing bores are all over the place for an inside dimension. This is another beautiful thing about the IMS Solution, running clearance is set to take these things into consideration, and there's no *****, or races in the equation.
