Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I purchased a set of Litronics headlights and received them today. I took out the existing headlights and installed these just to check out the lights. I had read in multiple places that the 996.1 was plug and play but when I turned on the headlights I got nothing, not even the turn signals worked. I put the originals back in and everything works. Put the Litronics back in and nothing. I was able to get the high beam to come on when I pulled back on the stalk to get flash to pass but they would not work when I pushed the stalk forward for high beams. Any suggestions on where I might start to figure out what might be wrong? I really don't want to start buying lamps and ballast just to find out it was something else.

POST 2Original post

What head lights came with your car? If the were not litronics then u have to swap some pins around to get them to work.

The 996.2 needs to be rewired but the 996.1 is pin compatible. I did get them to work. I think that the pins may have had some corrosion on them because after taking them out and back in a couple of times they partially worked. I took a small wire brush to the pins and now they work correctly. Now all I have to do is install the leveling switches, make a new wire harness, and install the control module. Oh, and figure out how to take the yellowed film off of them and clean them up. I like the way they look and they are bright.

Interesting I didn't know thy were Plug and Play. I don't care for the leveling stuff. But otherwise good to go ?

On the 996.1 the light function is plug and play. There is a retrofit module that moves the low beam when the high beams are turned on. I plan on adding the factory module and sensors to get ful functionality. 996.2 requires moving pin 5 to pin 4 i believe.
