For summer I have PSS and quite like them, set of 4 at costco installed for about $1,200 (I paid almost $750 for the last set of rears at Discount Tire).

With making such a big purchase with a long distance sale, I had to use my instincts and, compared to all of the others that I have seen through the country, pull the trigger quickly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone, I have been learning from the various Rennlist forums about the different 911's and have made my decision. This beautiful C4S will be coming to me from San Diego next week: I am working with shipping now. What a pain that is. Any insight or tips? I have already been burned from my deposit from Autotransport 123... -DC Josh

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you! I found one that has a little higher mileage, but has an impeccable service history and has had all of the major worries taken care of, IMS upgrade, RMS, window regulators etc. I'm glad I waited and acted quickly on the right one! -DC Josh

POST 6Original post

Nice!! I am a 996 newbie as well... Picked up my c4s about 4 weeks ago.

POST 8Original post

Looks great! I might suggest you go with one of the more experienced shippers like Reliable or Intercity to name a couple. To me it was worth spending just a little more to get better service. My first experience with shipping I went the cheapest I could find-hard to communicate with driver, delivery was 2 days late, truck broke down before it got to my house. Not good. Second experience I went with Intercity and it was the complete opposite. Car arrived a day early, excellent communication with driver, delivery to my front door plus it was enclosed carrier-discount trucker was open hauler. Just my 2 cents.....

POST 9Original post

Congratulations. Love mine. My suggestion is not to mess with shippers. Fly and drive. Sometimes it is the inconvenient option. However I shared two amazing experiences with fly and drive. First with my father in law. Next with my 5 yo old son. Only rule...no blue highways. Only byways. Still vividly remember them both.

They are expensive, but hands down the best for transporting cars, JP Logistics.

Excellent suggestion ! Nice score too. I've got her sister in black black.

POST 14Original post

You should be excited, they are fantastic cars! I'll echo the sentiments of the others, if possible the fly out and drive home method is a blast.

POST 15Original post

Congrats from a fellow C4S owner. PM me and I can put you in touch with my shipper. He is an independent that ships mostly exotics and race cars. I believe a few of the GT3 guys on this forum have used him as well. He just transported a new 918 and McClaren so he is the business ! Cheers ! Mike

POST 16Original post

I think that your "damn the naysayers" attitude is the right attitude. So many people get caught up worrying about what other people think. Enjoy your new 911! Remember, there will ALWAYS be another car that's faster than yours, and there will ALWAYS be somebody who proclaims that your Porsche isn't a real Porsche. This is true no matter what model you buy. To heck with them...

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think finding the right one with the best service history and with a seller that you could actually trust makes all the difference. With making such a big purchase with a long distance sale, I had to use my instincts and, compared to all of the others that I have seen through the country, pull the trigger quickly. The seller had people calling him immediately and I'm glad it is all working out. Shipping will be the next step. I have a quote from Ship A Car Direct that I am happy with. They are BBB accredited and have good reviews on Yelp, which is about as good as you can get regarding actual reviews on shippers. There are too many out there that are crooks and are taking peoples deposits with out actually performing anything.

POST 21 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Unfortunately, time=money and I can not take the time off in order to fly down and drive it back. I found a shipper who is reasonably priced and is picking up the car either tonight or tomorrow morning. I am so excited! -DC Josh

I went with another company, they were based in San Diego and picked up the car yesterday. The waiting begins!

POST 25Original post

Saw that one on Pelican--very nice, congrats!

POST 26Original post

DC J congrats! You'll love this 10X more than the Cayenne you had. I too have a CTT and a 996 and love both in there own rights, but if I didn't live in Michigan (or other cold snowy state), I wouldn't have the CTT (no kids, pets, need to haul other than Costco trips). I keep looking at my 996 and counting down the days to drive it. Since you have a C4S and live in the Mid-West (I think you said you go to school in Chicago area in the last thread) get snow tires for her. A poster just a few days ago wreaked there 996, due to a lack of traction, they claim its not the tires fault, but I guarantee there where a major factor. For summer I have PSS and quite like them, set of 4 at costco installed for about $1,200 (I paid almost $750 for the last set of rears at Discount Tire).
