Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I would check with PORSCHE to see if your key can be programmed to the door via the Vin Number.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi,
I hope someone can give me some helpful information about my latest issue with my 2002 Carrera Cabriolet.
The car has been parked in the garage over the past 10 days due to cold weather. When I tried to open the driver door yesterday using the key, the key will not turn in any direction. Since the car has been sitting more than 5 days, the keyless entry mechanism is disabled. The passenger door does not have a key lock on the door. I have tried 3 different keys on the drivers side, so it is not an issue with the key.
I am not sure what to do. I am thinking I will have to call a locksmith, but I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience or suggestions otherwise.
Thanks for any help
De-icing spray into the keyhole, Also try spraying wd-40 into the keyhole and see if the key turns. Sounds like the tumblers might be stuck in position.
I should think Alpines suggestion would work BUT if not, did the ignition key fit in the door previous to leaving the car in the garage? If not the PO may have changed the full ignition switch and bought another key to fit the new ignition. You must never have raised or lowered the cab top via the 'key in the door' method if the key does not turn the door locking mechanism. Or you may not even know of that method. Not that it will do you any good right now. Can you check with the PO if he has another key to the car? Another thing to consider, is the drivers door lock original to the car? These things should have been checked via the PPI. People are so concerned about the big things during a PPI and the 'little things' seem to get conveniently overlooked. I would check with PORSCHE to see if your key can be programmed to the door via the Vin Number. I don't see how as both are mechanical, but at least they may be able to get you in the car. Or a lock smith may be needed. Just a few suggestions for you to consider. Good luck and let us know how you go on.
Problem Solved!
I decided to put a little graphite on the key and it worked like a charm after I turned the key back and fourth a couple of times.
Many thanks to those who have responded.
This can happen if you own a GM or any car with "On Star" as those have the weakest security. IIRC a 14yo student was able to hack into the "On Star" system remotely with about $15 in parts from Radio Shack. With a bit more experience, you can literally shut the car down as well(theft feature) as well as activate the ABS in various ways. However in this case, it was purely due to being a blonde. Lol
