Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Based on the recommendation of my installer, we disconnected the rear side speakers (8.9cm Mids with 4.3cm tweeters).

I didn't change the speakers but it's possible they were replaced by the previous owner.

I've changed many radios so I wanted to give it a shot but when I pulled it out I found the connector was a bit hacked up by the previous installer and it wasn't a straightforward job.

I used the metra kit to relocate the HVAC control which went smoothly.

Im hoping to replace the amp with something that will properly drive the 2 ohm Bose speakers.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Let me start off by apologizing. This seems to have been beat to death, but I have been unable to find a sufficient answer.
I have a 2004 C2 with cdr23 w/BOSE, no nav, no cd changer.
I would like to replace the existing cdr23 with a double din unit with CarPlay. I know there are a slew of aftermarket rca/MOST fiber optic adapters out there. Those adapters look like a bit of a bandaid for the problem. Im hoping to replace the amp with something that will properly drive the 2 ohm Bose speakers.
Does anyone have first hand experience with accomplishing what Im after? Replace cdr23 and Most amp, but retain stock speakers...

just picked up an alpine ilx-w650 from Crutchfield. It's wired up to pioneer amp, sounds great. I didn't change the speakers but it's possible they were replaced by the previous owner. The alpine ilx-w650 is a great budget double din with carplay. Price was under $300. I used the metra kit to relocate the HVAC control which went smoothly. Let me know if you have any questions.
I'm new to the Porsche world so I googled MOST and I see it's some type of fiber optic adapter, interesting. When I bought the car 2 weeks ago it had a dated aftermarket single din with a flip-out display. I've changed many radios so I wanted to give it a shot but when I pulled it out I found the connector was a bit hacked up by the previous installer and it wasn't a straightforward job. I took it a local shop to finish the install. They seemed unphased by it and had the new radio in quickly. Here is a pic of the amp,

I think it's 4 channel. I can get more info you need it.
Cucumber, I appreciate your feedback, but it doesn't sound like your input is going to be much use. Congrats on your new car and stereo.
Specifically looking for input from members with a similar setup to what I have in my car. CDR23 w/bose, no nav, no cd changer.
Yes, I have a 2003 Coupe (the rag tops have a single sub, which will effect the situation where resistance is concerned. I replaced the head unit (a Becker product) and the power amp (Bose) with an Alpine MRVV500 5 channel power amp and an Alpine CDEHD149BT Receiver in 2016. Based on the recommendation of my installer, we disconnected the rear side speakers (8.9cm Mids with 4.3cm tweeters). The subs behind the back seat are each 5 1/4" and each runs on one ohm of resistance. Those speakers, when wired in series, are compatible with a typical sub output which wants 2 ohms of resistance. The MOST optical harness is gone. I shopped speakers but decided to wait to see how the system sounded when dialed in; i.e., crossover and EQ settings. The driving force behind my decision was to acquire hands free phone and Bluetooth and "Aux" input (actually, I had already added an Aux input for the Becker head unit, but I digress). I never bought the speakers. I am very happy with the system, particularly given the fact that the car is a Porsche.
