Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I did have the RMS replaced 8 years/35K miles ago.
Leading evidence: 'Replace 8 years/35k miles ago' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'seal will "seal" up and not leak' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Repair kit' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Had AOS/RMS/IMS and Clutch replaced just after purchase.

I had mine replaced on my two '99's when the IMS Solution was installed.

Last year and again this year, after not being moved/used/started for several months, there is a small puddle of oil on the ground just under the RMS.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

'99 C2 116K miles. Bought in '08 with 80K miles. Had AOS/RMS/IMS and Clutch replaced just after purchase.
Each winter it is stored in an attached garage for about 5 months. I put about 5k miles on each year. I change the oil just before it's hibernation.
Last year and again this year, after not being moved/used/started for several months, there is a small puddle of oil on the ground just under the RMS. Oil level on the dipstick is perfect. Other than it sitting for these several months, I have never noticed any oil leak. Does sitting in one position for an extended length of time cause additional pressure on one spot of the RMS? Do you think this is a sign of the RMS going bad or no big deal? I don't plan to do anything about it unless it starts to leak on a regular basis. I did have the RMS replaced 8 years/35K miles ago.
Second issue is that I now have an airbag light on. It has never been on outside of initial startup during the 8 years I have owned it. Did some research and sounds like the wiring for one of the seat belt buckles is bad or the air bag sensor for the passenger seat. I don't have a Durametric. Without that is it possible to determine where the fault is coming from? If the issue no longer exists, will the light eventually turn off without being reset? I've read about a seat belt repair kit but can't find it online.
TIA for any advice!

The RMS will leak as they age. I had mine replaced on my two '99's when the IMS Solution was installed. If it's a small leak don't worry about it until you have the clutch and/or IMS bearing replaced.
Suncoast (and others) have the kit:

Cars like to be driven and run. Sitting causes a lot of problems, particularly with seals. Now that it is out of hibernation, get it out there and drive. I would guess more than likely the seal will "seal" up and not leak. The air bag light, once set, will never go off. Dealer or Durametric, or maybe a Foxwell scanner with correct software, will turn it off. Wise investment. Durametric will tell you where the fault is.
Seals can squeeze the lube out from between them and the sealing surface while sitting, then they can leak for a second when started.
I have had this issue on multiple cars when not driven, on rear axles seals too.. Sometimes the seal will stick to its working surface and the seal fails from the stiction ... a gently hand rotate a half to a full turn before hitting the electrical starter can help.
Most people with a '99 do not have very good luck with a Durametric for the airbag light (ask me how I know). My Durametric is still a good tool for finding codes, but it just never could diagnose or clear that danged airbag light. The light has been on for six years now, one of these days I will fix the passenger seatbelt wiring. Funny story, I work for the company that made the seatbelts for this car.
How do you know that it's the RMS that's leaking? Or, why do you think it's the RMS that's leaking? I would think it's more likely that it's the IMS flange that's leaking since there's actually oil sitting behind it...(not so with the RMS).
Good point. I only believe it is the RMS based on the location of the leak but it could also be the IMS. Both the IMS and RMS were replaced 35K miles ago.
I plan to just let it be for now and keep a close watch on it.
Thanks for the feedback!
I just ordered the Foxwell NT530 on Amazon. I've read mixed review about this model as it relates to the 996 but hopefully it can reset the airbag light and provide other insights.
I'll follow up after I receive it to let you know how it works out for me.
Make sure you follow the instructions and register your Foxwell. That enables you to download and install the Porsche specific software and the latest updates.
