Probably the not fair to charterize all of the Houston used car delaers but I found the same to be true when I was interested in a car an Nxcess.

About 3 or 4 hours into my trip home, I got a Text Message from you saying "here is the tracking number for your check".
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Dean Bastas, (and Global Motorcars)
I was looking for a great deal on a nice P-car. I found one at your dealership, so I bought it. After all, it had a clean title and Carfax. When I bragged about it on this forum, everyone told me something was fishy. I found out that it wasnt warranteed. They told me I should expect a warranty since you wrote on my paperwork that it WAS CPO'd. They told me you guys were ripping me off. They told me to look for records, if they lie about CPO, what else are they lying about? So reluctantly, I did. I uncovered the massive flood damage from the Porsche dealer that sold you the car. When I called you, you tried to explain it away as it had only rained in the car and it wasn't major. But I told you that I have the records to prove it, and you are wrong. But still I trusted you...
You then told me you guys were really sorry and that you'd figure it out, and get me a new car. I thought that was great, I trusted you.... Again, the guys(and gals) here intervened and told me I was crazy. Forget them I thought, they are just being paranoid, I mean how could such a seemingly great car dealership do this to someone who would potentially come back for a turbo in a year? But you didnt return my calls, or try to find me a new car. I listened to the boards overwhelming advice. Get my money back, THEN deal. Dam Rennlist, but I did it. I started feeling blown off, by you AND Momentum further. Get a lawyer they said, so I did.
I still persisted, as the board suggested. I pushed and pushed and said, take this car back. So you finally did. You set up a time, faxed me the info and picked up the car. I still trusted you!! You told me you'd send a check back AS SOON as you got the car. Great I thought. I still trusted you.
So then I bought a new car. The second I drove it, I knew it was different. Compared to this car, I realized, the flood car is WORTHLESS!!! Any 911 owner would know this. My mistake was not test driving other 911's. MY mistake, of many made!! But this new car is a dream. Yours was slow, sluggish, loose and uninspiring. But, the new one? WOW I thought. NOW I understand! NOW I GET IT. So THIS is a 911. I'm so glad i found this out. THANK GOD for Rennlist. Here I thought, I'll never get a car as nice as the flood one. I was SO wrong. I almost WASTED FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!! Could Dean have known?
About 3 or 4 hours into my trip home, I got a Text Message from you saying "here is the tracking number for your check". Awesome, I still trust you. But now, after driving this new car, I started wondering, could they have known and lied to me? Hmmm, nahh.
When I get into work the next morning I get emails and messages from everyone on Rennlist to find MY old car, back up for sale for $4k less asking price then when I bought it with THE SAME AD!! Clean car, 1 owner, checked thoroughly for flood-damage etc.... THIS CANT BE, I thought.
I now realize I should NEVER have trusted you. You are thiefs and LYARS and put me thru this and tried to rip me off. How many others? Hundreds I'm sure. You shouldn't be in busisness. All I did was stick up for you and for that, I am a fool. YOU are the reason why no one trusts used car-salesman. You, my friends, are SCUM of the earth.
Just so you know Dean. I did NOTHING to try to hurt Global. You did it to yourself. I stuck-up for you every step of the way. I was in dream-land. Rennlisters led me back to reality. Blame Rennlist for this being exposed. Something tells me you made a really big error by letting it get exposed this way on a public forum that upwards of 5 THOUSAND people have viewed. Well, the cats out of the bag and I hope this at least makes you think twice before using illegal tactics to make money and sell cars.
Dean et al, at Global. I'm afraid you are really being watched now and this news will traverse the internet VERY FAST. I wish you lots of luck, you will need it.
Your friend (no more),
Gant
Nice job! And congrats on your "real" P-car purchase.
BTW: The Rennlist community has helped me save thousands during my P-car ownership experience (from purchase to today's mods), and thus there is no better way to say thanks to this wonderful community than by becomming a Rennlist member.
VIVA Rennlist!!!

business.
Good for you and make sure the check clears first.
Very well put Gant! Now it is time to make this dealer stand up for their actions and "try" to explain them. I have a feeling, the cowards they are, will do nothing but continue on with lies and false promises.
Glad to have you around and anybody that tells you that Rennlist doesn't look out for its' own, point them to this horrific story that did have a good ending.
Arr0Gant,
Glad we earned your trust. With what you've been through, you deserve the best. I really hope that these guys get taken down. At least they know that they almost got caught. if anything, this episode taught me that there are some very good people here who will do their best (regardless of what is said) to look out for others.
So, when are you mailing the letter and when can we all write to enquire about the submarine they have for sale? I'm sure a bunch of us would love to let them know how closely we've been watching them
Maybe next week. Friday afternoon math is never accurate.
Hmmm... I could also use some Ultimat Vodka just about now!
(And apologies Gant... don't mean to steal the thunder in your thread... I'll have a Vodka tonic in your honor for sure)
Let me know when your check clears. I'm looking for a rolling flood car for the track and am prepared to offer them $1000 for their piece of crap. Between you and me, I am negotiable. Wow, what a series of threads. Get your check cashed first!!!
Yes, ensure the cheque clears . . . wait a few days . . . then send by registered mail and to the attorney general in tx.
Riad is right, grammatical or spelling errors do not improve a letter writer's credibility.
BTW, beautiful C4S you picked up. Enjoy.
Oh, yeah and get you and your C4S to the track to TRULY appreciate the capability of the Porsche (assuming you haven't already). Even if you did fabricate this whole story as some have suggested, it would be even greater your talent to weave such a wicked web. Either way, you win :-).

Just an FYI, here in Texas, there is a statutory cause of action for Deceptive Trade Practices. As I recall, part of the damages allowed includes attorneys fees. There are some other benefits to plaintiffs under the deceptive trade practices act as well, such as actual damages and exemplary damages. For example, you may be able to recover for any out of pocket for CPO's, transportation of the car, gas, etc. etc.
I don't know if you have an attorney barred in Texas, but if so, you should look into that attorney bringing an action on your behalf to recover everything you lost - AND the ATTORNEYS FEES you had to pay. I think there is also some ability to get ENHANCED DAMAGES for willful fraudulent actions - so you should keep printed records of everything (including the new add with the same car advertised with no notice of flood damage).

I was wondering the same thing. Remember that most of the people here are "regulars" and the avatar is what we will see on every one of your posts. Some could interpret that as a gesture directed at them. Food for thought.
LOL, was just looking for a funny pic to put up for my 1st Avatar. Mostly was just testing it.
I guess people can take things however they want. If someone actually took it personal, thats unfortunate. It was supposed to be comical.
I took it off, I don't want people to make an issue out of nothing.
EXACTLY!! Ahh finally someone with a sense of humor!! Thanks Dell! I mean, after all ive been thru, all im saying is EFF YOU, look what I got!
Once again, how do I get my Rennlist Member red tag?
You can get Jenn to update you status once you join faster if you post in the help forum. If not, it just takes some time before she gets to it.

Why is everyone jumping on Global? While noone is thinks about the poor flooded P-car. Global is taking a stand. What about her feelings? She needs a good home and these altruistic people, ney SAINTS at Global, are putting their entire reputations and livelyhood on the line, just so this poor little car, that has been thru so much, can find a nice home. I mean, you people on Rennlist call yourself "Porsche fans". Well what about this Porsche? This poor, forgoten about, neglected little guy!
Is a nasty, sticky, smelly, fish-filled, reconditiond, cleaned out, fake-title, wanna be nice, once flooded Porshce, not still a Porsche? Of COURSE it is people!!! C'mon. Give me your hungry, tired Porsches....
Well, I say, "Good for you, Global Motorcars of Houston. I support you 100%"!!

That is way to many for only 18 months of business.
They need to be shut down
Wow! Pretty impressive!
I thought it funny that at the botton of the page of info for them was a link saying "don't get soaked buying a flood damaged car". Did they know something we didn't?
OT - That's my all-time favorite commercial. First saw it during the superbowl a couple of years back. Wish they were still making folow ups to it.
Congrats Gant, you car looks great. I'm sure it was worth the wait. Hope that check clears asap.
G
Seriously if you want them shut down. Email or contact this guy. He will bust their *** and shut their doors.

The jerks at Global probably get letters like this one on a regular basis, and we all see what effect it has on their business ethics. It's probaly good for venting, but not much else.
Isn't it fradulent to knowingly misrepresent a car that you are selling, and isn't fraud against the law? A far more effective approach would be to present all of the evidence that you have collected to the local police department for investigation. A hefty fine may help this Dealer see the error of his ways.
This is not a local law inforcement issue. The DTPA law, which allows for "treble"(triple) damages, is the only recourse. Someone has to get ripped off, and prove (beyond a preponderance) that they knowingly did it. This will be easy to prove with all the evidence at hand, and all of the witnessess we have here. Then it will be up to a jury to decide the punishment, which is a max of triple damages.
I don't believe law enforcement has to wait for the car to be sold. It can't be legal for a Dealer to knowingly misrepresent a car as they are doing with the car you almost bought. Maybe some of the lawyers on this forum can chip in.
Once again, it's not a law enforcment issue. It's a civil matter. I'm not saying it cannot become a criminal matter. If it happens over and over again, sure, the law will get involved. But right now? A civil matter. Hit em in the wallet.
Not a surpise at all. This thing was a goat **** from the word go. The only really amazing this was that so many of us sniffed out who and what they(Gloabl) were from the beginning. Gant obviously came around to the truth, but it seemed to take him a bit. I am really glad this thing worked out for Gant. I hope in fact Gant nails them to the wall, or that the guy on page 4 who said he would contact Marvin Zindler here in Houston really does contact him.
These guys really do need hanging out to dry, but ultimately, they need need some pain to learn their lesson. Bad mouthing them and reporting them to the BBB won't do it. They either need the TX Attorney General monitoring them, or a lawsuit in order to learn their lesson. The truth is that guys who do stuff like this really don't care what people think of them. The only lesson they learn is through the pain of a wallet extraction.
You have to remember that bad reports on forums, or news reports are transitory. Most people don't look thoroughly enough to find negative things like that, so they have no effect. when was the last time you really cared to do a background search on a dealer? Well, I know that some of us have, but most do not... and because of that negative reporrts have no effect on behaviour. The only thing that works is threat of legal action (jail time) or financial impact... loss of money (fines), revenue or shutting down of the business.
Probably the not fair to charterize all of the Houston used car delaers but I found the same to be true when I was interested in a car an Nxcess. The good news is that I figured it out before I decided to buy the car.

I found this about 10 items down the list on a google search.
You are lucky you didnt have to go the litigation route like this guy.
Me too!! I am going to Houston next week, so I'm planning to visit and feighn interest in your former u-boat. When it's time to talk numbers, I'll tell them to "throw in a free periscope and you have yourself a deal", then walk away. I hope that check clears by August 23rd!
