Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My rear engine lid does not hold because it is missing one hydraulic arm. It's easy to order the arm for $15 at pelocan but the nipple to which the arm snaps into is missing. Can I order this somewhere?

POST 2Original post

There's only one, on the right side. Most likely your current one is too weak and it needs to be replaced.

POST 3Original post

I replaced my one on the right (nothing on the left) for the same reason about a year ago now. A very simple DIY job.

POST 4Original post

FYI, there are 2 struts on the C4S. What model do you have?

POST 7Original post

+1 on the idea that you probably only need to replace the one arm on the right... BUT it is possible to add a second arm, as you can see it was designed in for other models. You just have to drill and tap a hole on the left upper tab for the new ball to attach. The lower left ball location has a threaded hole in the stock body. I know this because I recently did it to support some components on the lid as part of my electric 996 porsche conversion . If you need to know where to get the ***** for the job (pun intended) let me know and I'll see if I can figure out where I got them!

POST 8Original post

I have a c2 as well and it does look like the left side is missing but its not cuz nothing was there. As others said its time to replace the strut on the right. I did and alls good.

POST 9Original post

It's a simple replacement. If you wait too long like I did, then you run the risk of having the deck lid fall during an oil change and break the oil filler neck. Then your simple strut replacement becomes a more complicated project and it includes changing the oil filler neck!
