Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use little synthetic grease.)' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use little synthetic grease.)' (1 discussions). Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

So I am slowly working through various sources of rattles in the rag top of my '99 cabriolet and came across what could be the mother of all rattle sources.
On part of the Frame, towards the rear of the car, for the Top there is a missing rubber bushing (missing on the Passenger side). I know its missing because the drivers side has rubber in a bracket and the same bracket on the passenger side does not. The thing is, I've examined the parts catalogs online (Atlanta) and for the life of me can not find the part (nor even a picture of the item, for either side).
Any ideas? I would really like to buy this part. It is held on by two screws that go through the Frame. The lower picture is the Passenger side (from inside the car), showing the missing rubber bushing.
Pull the carpet back and see did it fall out down there. I had parts missing on mine and that's where I found stuff from the cab top mechanism that had found its way down there. The top is good today and working great all summer so far but was a PITA when I first got the car. Hit and miss openings.
I owe you a beer Herdi. Great call. I found the missing part inside the door panel down near the speaker. A bit tricky to fish it out but once I did I was able to snap it back on to the Frame where it belongs.
I hear you on the Top. Its a never ending project. Now if I could only get the canvas on the Passenger side to stop pulling out of the rear-most bow...
Will do fpb111.
wucash, I'm not sure if part 996.561.959.00 (the "thrust wedge") is the right part or not. I don't think it is, but I could be wrong. The part I was missing is a long and thin plastic item with a rubber insert, which does not really look like the thrust wedge. Now that I found it I guess it doesn't really matter. Also, I was wrong when I mentioned that the missing part is held on by two screws. It actually just clips on to the Frame. I guess I should have looked for a part number on the item itself before I put it back in place...
There is like 50 different parts on that page. My point was that I think you have a wrong catalog or page you are checking.
See if you can find the 2005 parts catalog for 996 in pdf.
