Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

12 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am trying to track down the original dealer that sold my 1999 996 C2 Coupe. The buyer lived in the Orlando area, but Porsche Orlando says it wasn't them. I've contacted Porsche America via their web site, but who knows what will come of that ping. Anyone know of an online way of mapping VIN to original dealer? Thanks.

POST 2Original post

This is a bit of a stretch but its possible VINWiki has something, another possible option that I am not too keen on, but if you are desperate is to contact the original owner.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Nothing found by vinwiki searching my VIN. I called the original owner on Sunday, but his voicemail greeting suggested he is in emergency medicine, which means he has his hands full, and no time for Porsche nostalgia.

POST 4Original post

Did you check CarFax? I should've asked this earlier; because it's probably there, It might cost you a pretty penny, but if you really want to know that is another possible option. If you have a friend who works at a dealership they may be willing to do that for you. If you want an extra hand I'm willing to help you search. Of course, this is only if you're comfortable with it.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I did run a Carfax report, and it does not report the original dealer, or the Austin dealer that was involved in the first resale. Thanks for the Carfax suggestion though... I have a friend who owns a Porsche dealership, but didn't want to impose for this favor until/unless I've exhausted other options. Thanks for your offer there. Who is Dave?

Might help, also, you need to review 1999 dealer directory book that came in Glove Box, Some dealers have changed hands over the years, Stoddard -> Penske, etc. as example

POST 9Original post

Call this number: [phone removed] You can also have the ownership history updated to reflect you are the current owner. I did it for my car. NOTE: they cannot provide service history, or previous ownership. Only update you as the current owner, and tell you where the car was originally put into service (delivered) For instance my car was delivered to a dealer in CT on April 4, 1998

POST 10Original post

The question is...why do you want to know the original dealer? All our cars were made in Stuttgart and shipped over. There is your beginning, or original birthplace. Now go for a drive and enjoy your car.

POST 11Original post

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but, to my knowledge, the car should have option code 09991 if there were any special/custom options. [edit: responded to wrong thread, sorry]

POST 12Original post

When you run the build sheet, it shows the "Tradding partner" and "commission number". I dont know if you can identify the dealer from there.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
