If the borescope is clean and you change out the injectors (one of the causes for scoring) and use good oil, you will have better peace of mind.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi, I just Found this forum and I'm very impressed on how the members know their stuff and share about it!!!
I'm seriously looking for a 2003 C4, it is silver and the top and interior dark Blue. It has an automatic transmission, a hard top and seems to be fully loaded, a lot of Work has just been donne on it like- New front brakes- New Bilstein front suspension
- regular season tune upThe car is in mint condition but the only draw back is the milage, it has 100k miles. The Price seem to be fair at 26500.00. The tires are in fair condition, the fabric top is clean but the IMS has never been changed.
What do you guys think about it???
I might sound stupide but I don't know much about Porsche.
Also, I will have it inspected either st the dealership or an indpendant garage specialized in Porsche.
A PPI that is thorough includes a top and bottom bore scope. Bore scoring is the main concern with these cars lately, more so than the IMSB, although given your cars age and mileage, and bearing type, Id suggest you would want to have that done as well.
The price sounds a tad high for an automatic, though. Generally, autos are cheaper than manual cars.
Price seems high. I'm completely unfamiliar with Canadian prices but I searched Auto Trader Canada with a googled Toronto postal code and couldn't find any comps with 160,000 km. That said - there were cars that had slightly higher prices with half the km's. 60-80,000 km cabs going for $36-39,000 CAD. So for a 160,000 km cab I'd expect much less than $31,000 CAD. You're the resident expert on prices in your area - maybe it's different where you live. Unless you meant 100,000km not mi then carry on.
^^^^This! It all comes down to the condition of the engine. Borescope is the only way to see the condition of the cylinders. If the borescope is clean and you change out the injectors (one of the causes for scoring) and use good oil, you will have better peace of mind. IMSB as well. These are super fun cars. As others have said, they have great smile per mile ratio. Transitions between owners can be rough. Open eyes! Good luck!
Cut him some slack, French appears to be his first language (name is Serge, from Quebec, and the accent mark in independent suggest such). Are you safe from a grammar **** when using a second language?? I know I'm not.
Good luck with your search Serge. Follow the advice re: a good PPI. Don't be afraid to walk away if it is not exactly what you are looking for. Keep digging around in here and learning more! Is it out of the question for you to look for cars in New England? Sherbrooke isn't so far from Boston and the southern New Hampshire/Massachusetts area could yield some good results and it wouldn't even be that hard to come drive down to check out cars (only 4.5hrs to central Massachusetts). If you can find something in the range of $US21,000, after import duty (non NAFTA car), GST, PST, and 100 Air Conditioner tax....looks like that would be about $CAD 31,331 from what I saw online. Gotta drop a chunk of change for the duties/GST/PST as soon as you hit the QC border, though, $USD25k puts you up to $CAD37,300 or so.
I have no idea about this car...was just something a quick search found '99 AT Cab, 84k miles, $US19,999

I hope that your orthograph in French is as good as mine in English...
Thanks you for the advice!!!

Hi MadIrish,
I'm very open to make a purchase in the USA. I will be looking country wide and my budget is approximatly $32k u.s. dollars.
I have purchased a fifthwheel in Minessota and I'm aware of the paperwork involved in the importation in Canada.
If you guys are Aware of a good car available, please drop me a message.
Serge, do you want a auto transmission cab specifically? Let us know what you're hoping to get and we can post some cars up for you. if your budget is $32,000 USD, based on MadIrish"s post we should be looking at cars that are $25,000-$27,000 max so you can clear your import duties within budget. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm looking for a carrera 2 or 4, cabriolet, don't really mind a specific color ( but if I could find a black with a tan color interior would make me very happy) or transmission type. I would like to have some mag wheels that are not the usual Gray that we see. Also a hard top would be really appreciated.
As price, an amout of $28K would be OK.
Just a few to kick this off. I'll keep my eyes open.
Here's a nice Blue / Tan Carrera 4 Cab that includes a hard top.
Silver over Metropol similar to the car you asked about, only this one is a 1999
Silver over grey - 2003 - OK condition
