Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

MOST is not Porsche specific, all the German cars used the same system.
Leading evidence: 'Use same system' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect anything brakes' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

A quick search told me that the MOST fiberoptic system runs in a loop and sounds like disconnecting anything brakes that loop.

I think the component list/order can only be corrected using PIWIS.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My car has the Bose sound upgrade as well as MOST (fiberoptic) system. Seems like a total overkill but anyways.....
I wanted to remove the remote CD changer mounted in the frunk next to the amplifier. Seemed like an easy enough job - 2 bolts and unplug the two connectors. One of them was definitely fiberoptic as I could see the red light shining through. After, everything turned on just fine but I have no sound coming out. A quick search told me that the MOST fiberoptic system runs in a loop and sounds like disconnecting anything brakes that loop.
Has anyone gone through this exercise of removing the CD changer on a MOST equipped car? Is there some sort of connector that can be plugged in to close the loop? I covered both connectors so that no dirt gets in for now.
Yes, you need to "close the loop" so to speak. There should be MOST jumpers available. When I put in my Mr 12V bluetooth adapter it came with a jumper for the CD changer, so they do exist.
MOST is not Porsche specific, all the German cars used the same system.
Also it should be noted there is an "order to the looped components" as in component 1-2-3 ect, in the head unit. If the order that is programmed in the head unit is not the "actual order" or if a component is removed from the loop,( and the list not corrected) it can effect the way the system functions.
I think the component list/order can only be corrected using PIWIS. I don't think Durametric has that capability.
You may be ok with just removing the CD changer and closing the loop, but then again it may not work completely as designed.
Love it when something simple becomes more difficult then it needs to be. Thanks for sharing this Skip! I'll follow up here once I install the loop. Hopefully I won't need any coding!
I had forgotten that. The Mr 12 Volt bluetooth adapter that I installed emulates the CD changer so I did not reorganize the fiber optic loop.
I think you will be OK. When I start the car up sometimes the bluetooth adapter refuses to work and I get an error message on the PCM" "CD Changer Not Found". Everything else still works fine. My car is an '03 with the original PCM2 compact disk based system.
Thanks and good to know! I have just the standard radio in mine. Not sure if that's the radio or the amp but my doesn't like to produce sound when it's below 50F
Just reporting back....Got the above linked cable loop for fiberoptic, plugged it in and sound is back! So if any components that run on this stuff are removed one of these nifty loops will be needed to close the well, loop
