2) Alternatively, I'm thinking to refurbish one of mines by replacing the bearing which start to be noisy when the fan turns on and off.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

1) I read bad reviews on the aftermarkets radiator fans for 996 (non turbo) As usual, the Porsche one is very expensive. Can you recommend me a good aftermarket one? 2) Alternatively, I'm thinking to refurbish one of mines by replacing the bearing which start to be noisy when the fan turns on and off. Does someone know which bearing reference/dim fits the 1999 C2 996 fan so I can order this part in advance? Thank you!

POST 2Original post

Auto Atlanta offers one from Bosch that has a good reputation.

Thank you. I opened the fan motor but it has not been designed to be refurbished easily.

POST 4Original post

I just bought a used boxter fan of ebay. It was cheap and came with a bracket and extra resistor.

POST 5Original post

+1 to De Jeeper’s. Get a used fan from a lower mileage 986 or 996 from a salvage site for cheap.
