Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

FWIW it's much more enjoyable to work on a clean car than one that is a trash can inside.
Leading evidence: 'Clean car than one' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean car than one' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. The last segment already shows them removing the seats to clean the carpet and address the problem with the passenger seat.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Looks like the 996 is continually getting some more love and this time from the good folks at Flat 6 Motorsports. Looks to me an interesting series with an engine rebuild as it has the piston slap and needs to go under the knife. The goal looks to be a 3.8 upgrade with 99mm pistons with help from Drivers Choice guys, which seem pretty local. Should be fun series to follow:
You Tube
haha yeah I think it sounds bad to anyone. I actually like their approach as opposed to some other youtube builds out there. By that I mean they are addressing the engine first before throwing money at paint, brakes, interior and any other mods. Getting a solid base is what it's all about.
I hadn't seen this channel before, thanks. Along with Man in a Garage and 997dad not only should I be able to rebuild my own engine I'll be able to do it with my eyes closed.
Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like they're jumping in on the interior and electricals first.
The last segment already shows them removing the seats to clean the carpet and address the problem with the passenger seat.
Seriously? The man literally said, "I'll probably get some new floor mats and vacuum out the interior a bit" and are going to basically fix a broken wire under the seat while they sort out how they will address the big motor issue. Doesn't sound like they're jumping into anything crazy and expensive and I hope you're not comparing that little thing to people repainting cars, getting wheels, big brake kits and all sorts of bolt-ons before even touching the basics of the engine work that would be needed. FWIW it's much more enjoyable to work on a clean car than one that is a trash can inside. It's a vlog style project, not a one episode movie.
No, I just show up for the refreshments.
First of all, is this your car or are you affiliated with this company?
Second of all, you said they were addressing the engine first, but I didn't see that anywhere. Maybe there was another video I thought. No need to get all defensive over it.
The video in your original post... I watched twice and didn't see what you claimed. The guy summed it up nicely in the end, but Jon was not starting off by dropping the engine. He said, "Of course the engine needs to be addressed, but we do have a few things we've already started planning"
Here's a breakdown as I gathered from his summary:
1. Replace floor mats
2. Shampoo the carpet
3. Pull the seats out (probably to redye the leather seat too?)
4. Address the passenger side seat electrical problem
5. Install Porsche PCCM+ radio system (maybe speakers too??) That's a very expensive interior mod wouldn't you agree?
6. He also mentioned the window regulator needed to be repaired.
7. And, he mentions the headlights need to be rebuffed because of oxidation.
Then, at the end, he says he'll make plans to address the engine issue.
Now, Flat 6 Motorsports doesn't strike me as professional engine rebuilders (thought they were just into parts) and so I'm looking forward to seeing how they progress with rebuilding the engine to a 3.8L.
Cheers!
Nope - similar names, two very different companies.
So you watched the video twice just to prove that I was incorrect by cherry picking a part of a sentence I wrote? C'mon man, what value does that bring to the thread - zero. The intention here was to share the 996 getting some more attention and what looks to be an interesting
series
in the works.
No one is cherry-picking your sentences Peter. Again, if you read my comments then you'd understand why I was asking you if "I was missing something", but it looks like you'd rather try to wind me up and be argumentive? If that's the case, then you need to try harder... my grandmother has more attitude. I grew up in hell mister!
Cheers... and let's move on, shall we?
