A few months ago I got a check engine light and the codes came up for misfire on cylinder #2. I replaced all six coil packs so I have five known good ones that someone can have for free if they cover shipping. I'm assuming these are the original ones that the car left the factory with in 1999.

I preemptively changed my old style coil packs last year. When I cleaned off the schmoo, I found they were beginning to fail without misfiring. I would give yours clean and see if they are beginning to crack. All six of my coils had this same crack forming in the same location.

When I changed my coil packs several years ago, I chucked all the old ones in the recycle bin. Done and over with. Given the time and trouble of changing the spark plugs and coil packs, who would want to install a set of old coil packs? Most of mine had microscopic cracks all over them. Just not worth the trouble of replacing old with old.

If you notice in the image there is a "P" logo. Porsche only puts that on original factory coil packs. Genuine OEM replacements won't have the logo. Did you order genuine Porsche replacements? If so, check and see if I"m right about that.

That would be in line with my thinking that these were the original coil packs. I replaced them with Beru from RM European and they don't have the P logo. You should have tried for the tamer version.
