I replaced my 1999 halogens with LEDs from headlight experts about a month ago.

I changed the halogen h7 bulbs to LED h7 bulbs, and I originally bought them in Ashan for 300 rubles apiece, such diodes that you can only hang on the Christmas tree.

Not porsche specific, but I swapped the sealed beams on my classic Fiat, for H4 housings w/ projectors.

I'm going with Philips LEDs in my Cayenne - if I like them I might get a set for the 996.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I was disappointed to find that my 996 did not have factory Xenon headlights.
Has anyone gone from Factory H7 bulbs to LED bulbs?
Any recommendations on where to get specific LED's
Would these work?

I replaced my 1999 halogens with LEDs from headlight experts about a month ago. Theyre definitely brighter and Im satisfied. The clip that holds the bulbs in is a little tricky to get on the new bulbs but manageable with some needle nosed pliers. Its also a little tricky to figure out which bulb is low beam vs high beam. Now I want to also replace the high beam bulbs. I cant speak to the bulbs you linked but hopefully this info is helpful.
The ones you linked are absolute garbage. And will be worse than stock.
You need to find a bulb that makes an attempt to replicate the filament location.

I got these to fit in the high beam location on mine.
Dielenberger,
Now I.m on the train back to work.....
Is it safe to to assume and no disclaimers that if the minifan fails that it will throw a DIP code letting you know it has failed?
Also, if there is a failure will the heat affect the plastic assembly housing enough to damage it?
I will admit I.m a little lazy at the moment to check on the opetating temps of the lights and the lens assemblies.
Thanks in advance and for the post.
I have factory litronic lights in my 2000 and I think they suck. The HIDs in my Audi TT and my S2000 were much better. I was thinking of maybe changing them out to H7 LEDs. Anyone ever try to do that?
Not porsche specific, but I swapped the sealed beams on my classic Fiat, for H4 housings w/ projectors. I then tried a couple different versions of LEDs that best simulates the filament from a bulb. One style even had it's own mini projector lens to focus the beam.
All were s@#t, and I'll be going to standard H4 halogens, soon.
So instead of going this route on the 911, I decided to just invest in the best halogens possible and save what would otherwise be "wasted money" over another LED experiment.
After using Silver Star and Silver Star Ultra bulbs in the past, on a variety of vehicles; I decided to get truly premium bulbs. I purchased PIAA Extreme White Plus for the 996. These bulbs are significantly brighter, whiter, and shine further then any silver star or any other "for road use" halogen, I've tried.
They're not cheap at around $80, but are so much better then the Ultras or similarly priced ZXEs at the parts store
Non litronic H7 bulbs---i've tried a few LED systems....they all have a poor cutoff line with too much scatter...
Factory litronic---get new bulbs. Is factory D2S? I forget... Go 5000k if you want a little whiter or even 6000k if you like it a little blue
I'm going with Philips LEDs in my Cayenne - if I like them I might get a set for the 996.
There are CANBUS error clearing units you can get - basically an error might be thrown because LEDs are such low voltage the car thinks a bulb is out because of the low power draw. Although im not sure if the 996 tells you a headlight bulb is out or not?

However, passing cars not only did not go away, they curiously did not let me die, thinking that I was giving them a secret signal in Morse code...
LED bulbs
1200lm each, well, yes, began to notice, it seems that I see. Still, even I'm honestly, from the car window did not see much effect and was not satisfied. Until I came across a lamp CREE 2400lm at what lamps there are no coolers for cooling, which significantly increases its life—made of high quality. American company assembly China XD But these bulbs just pleased me. I advise everyone. These guys have all the bases.
Moreover, in my car, the LED low and high beam lamp is equipped with an aluminum radiator, with a fan on the end part, a far and near diode. Structurally, it is similar to a halogen lamp with filaments. I bought them from
lightingandsupplies.com
. The most acceptable option is to purchase new, factory-made low and high beam LEDs with already built-in cooling radiators. The owners of these lamps complain that they give poor high beams, since the LED is located lower compared to the halogen coil. But from my personal experience of using these lamps, I can say that the light is not much worse.
