Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

In the center console there's a convenient 4-pin female connector with power, ground, switched 12V and I think some kind of telephone-related signal. I'm looking for the male-side connector housing+pins, or an assembled pigtail, so I don't have to use my wonky setup with electrical tape. Given such clear part numbers it seems like it should be easy to find the mate, right? Well, for some reason I'm totally whiffing on the search, even after spending an inordinate amount of time. I found a bunch of false leads seeming to indicate the mail connector part, or to sell a pigtail, but they are all wrong or dead ends. Does anyone have current information on such a connector? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

You could cut it and re-wire it into a deutsch conn.

POST 3Original post

The connector is NLA, but I was going to start offering my version soon.

POST 4Original post

Yaz - loving all these great ideas you're bringing to fruition!

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yaz, that is awesome! I had considered building a model and printing one but I cant imagine how long it would take me to make it work. Yours looks great. Any timeline? zbomb, your idea is super practical. Its not like Im going to install the phone in this car so just replacing with a deutsch or molex is a nice, simple solution.

Connectors are ready to go. Just trying to decide on options (pinned for switched or always-on power, or both) and length of wire. I'm using 16 awg TXL in my car. Also putting the finishing touches on a USB quick charging module before I add everything to the website. PM me the details for what you want and I can get something out to you this week.

I can't think of a use for the connector right now, but I'm definitely curious what you @yaz996 and others are using it for. Can I ask?

POST 8Original post

USB Quick phone charger, hard wired GPS/navi/Garmin, hard wired Radar Detector, hard wired Oil Temp Guage. hard wired TPMS I'm sure there are other uses..

Currently I'm using it for a USB-C PD charging port. Might swap that out to run an inline USB quick charge module/cable up thru my phone mount. USB-C PD charging port integrated into switch blank Telephone connector with inline USB (A and C) module that supports all current quick charge standards

POST 11Original post

The switched power would be great for the remote turn-on input on amps and powered subwoofers!

POST 12Original post

Thanks for the ideas. The reason I asked is I bought a hard wired kit for my dash cam. Given that use case I'll still splice into the fusebox. another project I have is to get rid of the USB extension box for my pccm plus. When I installed the unit, I cut corners and mounted the accessory box with hook n loop tape, to the console, below and behind the batwing. I didn't want the accessory box in the cubby like many do. I think I'll ultimately go the same route as this feller did. You Tube . it does require cutting but it's an easily replaced part. Anyway the cubby is where I plop the phone. I'm not in love with that arrangement at all its annoying. If only PCCM Plus had wireless android auto...grrr. I love the head unit, but it's lacking the wireless, and worse, it has no backup camera support😬. I really would like a backup camera, I got totally spoiled with all my other cars. Especially for backing in. Yeah, the 996 has great views out the side and rear, but I also like my gadgets. Anyway, back to the subject at hand, I like your USB pd port @yaz996, but it won't rid me of the wire clutter, and the pccm breakout box requires my phone be plugged in to it, for AA. Maybe I'll go with the idea provided by @socal911t, And run an extension from the breakout through the console to that cubby. Of course, that's where my cup holder template goes. Haha. It's like Lego. You folks are great, I love the pcar RL community. I'm not super social, putting it mildly, but I do like online forums with topics that interest me. And this room is so helpful. I'm new to auto diy, and learn a ton here, thanks

@yaz996 nice work! Are you using the 0.093” male pins in these? These would be perfect for my oil temp gauge power.

Thx. Close. Pins are 2.5mm.

POST 16Original post

Thanks yaz, Im not talking about the pitch, Im talking about the pin diameter. Do you know if these are the correct pins for the connector?
