If there are any issue, Wurth lacquer is much easier to wet sand out any imperfections than something like Duplicolor, so you really cant go wrong - just take your time and follow directions to use thin coats.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Anyone know where to get wheel paint for gt3 look alike type wheels (pic attached)? Which rattle can doesnt blot up? Cant find the paint code on the wheel, imagine it's pretty standard.

POST 2Original post

This what i found with AI The Porsche 996 GT3 wheels were typically painted in a color called Sterling Silver Metallic (Porsche paint code 9A1). Some users have also found Wurth Wheel Silver to be a good match, according to Porsche Club Great Britain . This silver shade is known to be very close to the original wheel color.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

yeah, i saw that same thing with Wurth but read a lot of bad reviews on their spray nozzles gumming up. Heard some of the duplicolor products worked better but wasnt sure of the duplicolor, color.....ugh!

POST 4Original post

Wurth has a lot of flake in it. It needs to be shaken not stirred. Shake it like crazy for at least 5 minutes. Then shake it some more. Shake it every few seconds while spraying. The nozzles clog from blobs of metalflake. Same as weld through primer.

POST 6Original post

Why not just pay a professional to spray to GT3? Wouldn't be much in the scheme of Porsche 996 ownership.

POST 7Original post

I just had mine done in Weiss gold. Really happy with them. $600 IIRC

POST 8Original post

A little trick I learned was to put the spray cans in warm water for 10mins or so, itll help with paint flow. Whenever you finish a coat and are allowing your work to dry, invert the can and spray to clean the nozzle out.

The Wurth color match is so close to Porsche factory wheel paint that you can use it in spot corrections and not be able to tell which parts of the wheel were touched up. Shake the can frequently and you shouldnt have any clogging. If there are any issue, Wurth lacquer is much easier to wet sand out any imperfections than something like Duplicolor, so you really cant go wrong - just take your time and follow directions to use thin coats. Having the wheels done professionally usually isnt too expensive, around $150 a wheel for fixing any gouges and painting, sometimes even less, so thats an option if you end up deciding youd rather outsource it
