Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

As you can see, they are basically factory mounts with all the hydraulic/rubber removed which are then filled with the semi-solid material.
Leading evidence: 'Fill with the semi-solid material' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean but i plan a few preemptive maintenance jobs' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I purchased my '99 about a month ago. During the PPI, the motor mounts were recommended for replacement. After seeing how easy it was through some of the posts here, I decided to tackle it myself.
After reading a lot of reviews, I was on the fence between RSS and WEVO semi-solid mounts. While this is a daily driver, I did see the value in upgrading the mounts over the stockers. As I was trying to choose, I came across the Function First mounts. While not as "pretty" as the RSS's, they were nearly half the cost (after core charge is refunded) and about the same $ as the factory parts. The few reviews out there were all positive, so I figured I'd give them a shot.
Hats off to Luka for quick shipping. This is what I got when I pulled them out of the box.
As you can see, they are basically factory mounts with all the hydraulic/rubber removed which are then filled with the semi-solid material. According to their website, this is all done in a jig to ensure proper alignment.
I had the car jacked up and the first mount pulled in about 30min. Here is the comparison to my stock mount w/78k miles. Notice how much further the stock one has dropped as it has worn:
The mounts went in quickly with no hiccups. Here is the PAX mount installed:
The mounts come with a pre-paid priority mail sticker so you can send your old ones back for core exchange. I had everything packed up and at the post office 2 hrs later. I received the core refund the same day they were delivered back. They couldn't make it more easy!

Since I have not had the car that long, I'm not sure I can really articulate the difference between these and fresh factory mounts. However, they made a HUGE difference in what I had with the worn mounts. For lack of a better description, the car just feels "right." Shifts are definitely tighter and the back end feels more planted.
Reviews on just about all Semi-Solid mounts indicate an increase in vibration transmission. Upon first intallation, I definitely noticed and idle vibration that wasn't there previously. It was very small, but apparent. I now have 1k miles on it and either the vibration has gone away, or I've gotten used to it. Either way, it is not something that detracts at all from the experience. Addtionally, there is a slight vibration between 2800-3000rpm that I still notice. Again, it is nothing bad in my opinion, but still noticeable.
In the end, would I do the upgrade again? Absolutely. At the cost of the factory mounts, it almost seems a no-brainer. I don't see any downside. I don't know that the other brands of Semi-Solid mounts are "worth" the extra money, though I'm sure someone could make an engineering assessment of the different designs. In some ways, I think the higher end motors like our cars attract upgrade parts that are engineered to be "pretty" and work as described. In this situation, the name of the company fits perfectly. The parts appear to be designed with Function First in mind. All else is secondary, and I'm A-OK with that!
For a daily driver and a part that just works, two thumbs up!
Nice job on the DIY. Glad you are enjoying the upgrade. I ended up going with the Wevo semi-solid mounts, and I'm also very happy.
Replacing old, sagging motor mounts makes a big difference.
Had these installed on my 2004 cab. Prior to install my exhaust was hanging 3/4 inches too low. During the replacement we noticed the old mount on the drivers side was toast so was excited to feel the difference. All I can say is this is the right mount for street use. A bit stiffer but not punishing. Hopefully eliminate the need to do this again in 4 years. I also had the transmission jig attached and retightening up the shifter which was huge.
great way to go if you want a nice upgrade from stock with some more longevity.
New member who just acquired a 2002 Cabriolet with 41k miles. Engine replaced in 2013 by Porsche. The first owner had very little milage on the car which probably led to IMS failure. I am third owner and bought the car with about 17k on the rebuild. The PPI was clean but I plan a few preemptive maintenance jobs. New brake hoses and flush, new coolant tank and the car desperately needs an alignment. Just ordered RSS,s, Exhaust tips about 3/4” low, Rear end feels loose With a Clunk while shifting. You can feel the engine moving!
