Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It is very hard to find pictures of it....non metallic, "dark blue", code 55. If so....post up your pictures and your thoughts of it....found one last night. Looks like an interesting color, but now that I see it's not metallic, would like to learn more. I looked at a silver 00 C4 aero in Michigan earlier this week, had a fabspeed exhaust and chip, have to say it was very responsive, but no way could I live with that exhaust. Came to the determination that I will wait until I find a pristine example. I am really liking the 99 and 00 cars with the aero package and A LOT of options.

There were a number of different blues. This list may help http://www.porscheclubgb.org/clientf...aint_codes.pdf

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yes...it's "dark blue". Here is a picture of the car....but would love to see other pictures in sun if anybody has them. It's non-metallic. Anybody have pictures of this color in the sun?

POST 5Original post

Interesting color. I don't think I've seen that one in person. Most of the blue colors offered on the 996 were metallic paints.

POST 6Original post

It's a nice looking blue. The only caution I would have about a non-metallic dark color is that scratches, and especially swirls will show up quicker. Metallic paints seem to hide swirls a bit better in my experience.

POST 7Original post

Yah, I have one -- 02 Targa. Will post pic when I get to desk computer. Saddle interior. Good contrast. Interesting color.

POST 8Original post

Just picked up my 99 last week, 44k miles. I'm told it's Cobalt Blue. Looks similar to your find. I will share with you I'm a black car preference guy, but when I saw this Blue, I thought I could handle it. I love how it looks in the sun, then under clouds and nightime, it looks black. The lady at the DMV verifying the VIN asked me if I wanted to change the title color, lol.

Mine? Thanks blackbull ! My first positive comment, you made my day ! ! !

POST 11Original post

Interesting color! Seems like my car without metallic. Love it!

That's not Cobalt Blue. It's hard to tell what it is in your photos, but it looks closer to Midnight Blue in my opinion. You can look up the paint code on your options sticker to get the proper color.

Stasha- Thanks for the pictures! Is that paint code 55? A non metallic color? Looks great!

Non-metallic. Don't know paint code, but it's a standard Porsche, not repainted.

POST 17Original post

Dennis, thanks for the info. I have something going on with this car. Several things seem out of place. There is no sticker under the frunk. I have the owners manual, but no sticker in there either. I had the VIN ran and nothing showed about color code. The emblem on the back lid has an "S" but the door sills only say "Carrera". Maybe they didn't have the "S" sills available on 99 ? Is there any other place on the car the option sticker may be? No sticker on the frunk lid usually means a repainted lid or a replaced lid (from accident damage maybe?) Also, there is no such thing as an "S" model in 1999. Someone added that emblem to the engine cover. Is your paint metallic? It looks like Midnight Blue or similar. Cobalt is much brighter.

POST 20Original post

Carfax was clean. It's all good. Car is a rocket ship, pulls hard up to rev limiter and very easy to drift. I'll drive it like I stole it and I enjoy all the compliments. Not sure of the metallic, I would have to guess it's non-metallic. Thanks again for sharing the info. I have lots of reading to do, and UPS deliveries today to install.

The paint code can be found in the frunk, behind the carpet on the right side of the compartment (driver's side)

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
