You can do this visually, or by running your finger the length of the trim piece, whereafter you check for paint/particles on your finger.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quick check for all with a cab: Look carefully at the black trim piece atop the movable rear body cowling of the cabrio top mechanism, i.e. the body painted crescent shape part that moves backwards when top comes down. Check the black trim for signs of paint rubbing off. You can do this visually, or by running your finger the length of the trim piece, whereafter you check for paint/particles on your finger. What can happen is that the top is not adjusted just right and allowed to contact the trim piece. Prolonged contact will cause rubbing through the paint of the trim piece, and/or worse the top. I noticed excess dirt/paint and checked the clearance. Even in the 15k my cab has covered, there was a sign of rubbing, i.e. this could cause really big problems if left unchecked. A quick visit at the dealer had the problem resolved in less than 30 minutes, i.e. simple adjustment. What was especially neat was that St. Louis Plaza Porsche made the adjustment at no charge, despite the fact that the car is out of warranty. Thanks a bunch Kim (Service manager Plaza Porsche)! If anyone notices rubbing, let me know and I will describe the procedure. Geert 996 Amazon gr. and Savannah b.

POST 2Original post

I have the same problem. I also believe my whole top is slowly going out of alignment as the gap at the front when the top is stowed has grown from 1/4" to 3/4" over last year. I am also noticing stretching around the window (I think the fabric is taking the load and not the frame). Has anyone had this issue? I guess this is a dealer fix? Phil

POST 3Original post

Thanks for the heads up. Mine is fine and clearance looks fine too.
