Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

39 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Very very excited to have picked up my new car today! Thanks to everyone in my other thread who helped me out with great info. 2003 C4S. 102,000km Haven't stopped driving it since I got it. It sounds fantastic. I watched this video about 3 times before picking it up The new Porsche 911 Carrera 4S w. Walter Rohrl 996 - YouTube

POST 4Original post

Congrats! Now go replace your motor mounts. :-)

POST 5Original post

Congrats. The sensation doesn't wear off. Search on how to clean front radiators.

POST 6Original post

POST 12Original post

Congrats! Check out the local PCA club - Canada West Region. We get together for some great drives, plus social and tech events!

POST 13Original post

Great car - congratulations! Now, let the modding and tinkering begin. That's half the fun with these cars.

Is that because the exhaust is a bit low? Think I remember reading about that in regards to the mounts.

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 13053510

YES, usually a sign that new mounts are due.

POST 16Original post

Congrats! Nice C4S. I agree with the others on the motor mounts.

POST 21Original post

Congrats! The 996 c4s is by far the best looking 996.

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone. Now to figure out the stupid memory seat issue :-) Love the wide hips on this car!!!

POST 24Original post

That's just obviously bad as hell. Congrats. Enjoy!

POST 25Original post

Excellent choice. And yes, the low/asymmetric exhausts are the 'positive motor mount replacement' sign. Thanks to the Rennlist member that alerted me to it. Replaced mine as a result. The C4S is. The best. 996. Period. Not the fastest. Not the most 'collectible' (whatever the h*ll that means). Just the best. Perfect balance of equipment, cost, speed, appearance, etc. Let the Turbonistas pile on; it matters not. Best one. Bought another one, after I errantly dumped my first one for an S600.

POST 27Original post

Great car congrats! Where are you putting your cell phone when you drive?

I know this is an ongoing joke but doesn't everyone put it in the cubby in front of the shifter? Already bought my first mod. Going to do the aluminum pedals. Aside from that I will keep it mostly stock and only concentrate on maintenance and keeping it running well. Looks like the first order of business are the engine mounts.

POST 30Original post

Nice ride! Here's a question for the experts - were the exhaust tips a selectable option? My car has the double barrel tips. Or does the configuration indicate PSE?

POST 31Original post

Congratulations and welcome to the c4s club! I love mine! Phone goes on a magnetic mount to the left of the instrument cluster :-)

I've wondered this myself.

POST 34Original post

I looked at that car at Company of Cars. I'm still on the hunt. Would you mind PM'ing me with what you ended up picking it up for so I can baseline offers on a couple of other ones? As I recall, they were asking $35ish for it. Nice car, I saw it the day after they got it in, it's in beautiful condition. Matt

POST 35 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13101684

they were asking $37,800. PMed you...

POST 36Original post

Congrats! Beautiful Car. I love my C4S so far.

Nice. Think I would have preferred a lighter colour. The black tends to wash out the lines of the car. Either way I'm in love with this car. The engine sound is absolutely fantastic even with a stock exhaust.

POST 39Original post

i've got the same plastic saw horses - love em
