To make a long story short, a couple of pimped out Hondas filled with four punks total, boxed me into a parking stall after following me into the structure. Having my wits about me, I surmised a car jacking attempt. Without going into too much detail for obvious reasons, I grabbed an instrument from my glove box and hopped out of the vehicle. I ran straight towards the rear car pointing it at the driver and moved behind his passenger at 5 o'clock so I could cover all of them. By this time, the driver of the rear vehicle finished crapping his pants and punched it. The first car followed. They ran like gutless cowards. Thank God my wife and kids weren't with me and these guys were slow and dumb. Hence, being in a high profile sports car lost its appeal. Went to the dealer and wrote him a check for the negative equity. Stay aware out there. I'll be the guy in the debadged C32 waving to 911s and trying to blend in. There are tons of 230 Kompressors running around on lease, so it makes me feel better. Later.
I've been hearing a lot of us getting chased after. That's scary. Any idea what ethnicity these guys were? Must be some organized crime. Can't really understand reason behind car jack - they looking for joyride or want to part the car for money?
I should put a pepper spray in my car... OK, done deal
You were very, very lucky. I don't know where the incident occurred, but in a place like Baltimore City or Washington, the outcome would likely have been a lot different. Most of the car jackers in these areas are armed and need little provocation to use their weapons. Lots of these guys are sociopaths and would have about the same remorse killing you as they would have stepping on a bug. I know it's tough to do, but it may be a lot more prudent to surrender the car and live to fight another day.
Let me be the first to say however, that faced with the same circcumstances that you faced, I may have reacted the same as you did. I'm happy it worked out well for you. Moreover, I believe you made a great decision selling your car. There's no telling how your incident went down from their perspective, and another attempt was certainly a possibility.
A few years ago, I was @Thoroughbred Motor, P dealer Nashville, TN, in the service bays, and I saw a P door lying on the ground w/bullet holes in it. I inquired, and it belonged to the Chairman of the Universal Music Group/Nashville (MCA/Decca/Mercury).....he'd been driving home late, in a nice neighborhood, and all of a sudden there was a car in front, and behind him, and they started to box him in....he eluded them by going to the right, onto grass, and passed the front car in great haste....he didn't know about the bullet holes until he got home. He now packs!!!!!
Sorry to hear about your incident, I am gald it turned out for you and hopefully mentally you can deal with it. It must be hard just thinking if this incident if it has turned out negative.
You have just made up my mind on this matter.

one of the people this piece of scum tried to carjack whipped out a gun and had a gunbattle in rivergate mall parking lot. if he wasn't packing then I would guess he and his family would be dead now. - like the other guy in the story who was the brother of a best friend
the shocking thing about your story is it probably occured in a leafy suburb like greenhills or Bellemeade
Sorry to hear about that, SUX BIG-TIME....
I was in a similar situation quite a few years back, they had a gun and I had none..... Believe it or not they didn't get the car..... I tossed the keys in the back seat and then told them I had a spare on the other side of the vehicle..... I sprinted down the block as they gave chase for a couple of blocks I then ditched them down a driveway..... I was running so fast I almost ate-****...... They did manage to pop off a couple of rounds but with some previous instruction from my military family I was weaving in and out at the same time.......
Once again "This SUX BIG-TIME" Glad to hear your safe.......

That is absolutely wrong!!! (That goes to all of those that have experienced this!). I am glad that all of you (and loved ones) have made it without injury. It sure puts in perspective what's important in life and life itself.
I hope no one reading this thread finds themselves in a similar situation.
I wouldn't have had the guts to get out of the car, but I would have been set to run over whoever and whatever was in my way if necessary. Glad you are ok.
Where woudl you guys stach the firearm? What is your weapon of choice? Would you recommend hollowpoint or FMJ? I'm guess hollow might be better for urban that is close in range.
I would get a Sig or PPK .380 but I know most of you would prefer something bigger like .45 or at least 9mmm.
Would you be charged if you did wound someone in defense? Besides a pepper spray and maybe taser gun are there other non legal options? I'm hesistatnt to keep a firearm in the car. I would probly use it!! hilarious
Wow, and I thought NYC could be tough.
Reanimator, where are you located?
Eli: You were shot at!!! Bloody hell, I think that would have done me in.
That Nashville piece is really tough! I was in Nashville Sunday night and Monday. I even drove past that mall!
Although it was the first it sure wasn't the last..... put 2 and 2 together.... "I was in the service from 1993-2001 and I lived in WATTS for more than two years.....
I guess I've been pretty lucky considering..... "God is great!"

As important as I think it is for people to own fire arms, the thought of drivers everywhere packing heat, does make one a little uneasy. I recognize that many of you are ex or even current military, but I had to reread this post just to make sure I read it right. Animator, you must of scared the living crap out of those guys. I am with 1999Porsche996 on this one, the best I could have done, would have been to just start driving over whoever got in my way.
Here in NYC, short of being a cop or working for the DA, its impossible to own a hand gun legally.
Wow!
I was in the process of getting a concealed permit for my Glock...I took the course, etc..When I learned that it appears on screen when a cop pulls you over and they tend to greet you with a gun in the ear I did not continue. Maybe worth a re-think though.
I lived in Texas when the state passed it's law to leagalize concealed weapons. Crime went way down right after that..... I would have applied but I we getting new orders to leave pretty soon after.....

I pack 24-7. I am especially careful when out in the P-Car; you are marked as well to do. If they take my car; fine, they can have it. I am also very careful when driving home to make sure I have not been followed. I don't like my wife being out after dark. No using ATM's; get cash at the grocery store. I don't have any kids and my wife and dogs are the most important things to me in the world. I have taken many classes with my wife so that she is compfortable with shooting if the need arises. We have a good home defense plan; we have run through some scenarios and discussed different angles. The world has changed quite a bit. I grew up in Texas and we would leave on vacation and not lock our doors. If all someone was going to do was take my stuff and not do anyone any harm; I'd be ok with that. But there are people who kill somebody for a freekin' pair of tennis shoes. If I or anyone in my family is threatened; I'm SHOOTIN'. Idon't want to, but I will. I carry an H&K USP compact 9mm or .45. Sometimes one of 2 Kimber 1911 .45's. I carry +P hollow point ammo in all guns. +P for good penetration and the hollow point for stopping the assailant. FMJ will certainly kill someone but have a tendancy to overpenetrate; going through the victim. The hollow point expands to limit penetration and causes more tissue damage.
I am glad that no one was injured in your scare. That is most important. But it serves as a notice to us all; as bad as we wanted our P-Cars before we got them, somone else wants them too........
Man that is crazy. After working as security for a few of the finer establishments near an Army post in Louisiana (aka biker bars and strip clubs) I've learned to always pay attention to my surroundings. It drives people crazy sometimes but ya never know who's gonna come up behind you. I'm glad everything worked out in your case. I've been meaning to go get a concealed permit for a while now and after hearing this I'm more ready than ever. Now all we need to find is some light weight bullet proof glass for the car, I mean we don't want to add 'too' much weight for track events.

Stansoph,
Are you serious that you carry guns in your P car? do you feel not safe living in Remond? I am very surprised to read your posting. Having lived here for years, my impression and experience of this area is very different from that of yours. Maybe I am just too naive. :-)
There are way too many P cars and plus much better ones out here. I doubt if anyone gives crap to 911.
Anyways, I hope this doesnt happen to anyone. Safe driving.
Redmond is as a safe a place to live as any. I live out towards Fall City off of 202 in unincorporated Redmond. My neighborhood is million$ + homes that have been robbed in daylight and at night. No one hurt. I drive a Porsche and wear a Rolex, I feel somewhat marked. I could get followed home or cornered in aparking lot. Who knows; I am just being prepared. People get hit over the head at ATM's, carjacked. Things happen at odd times. I'm not paranoid just doing my part to protect my family and myself. I fI remember right the guy who sold his car got an INSTRUMENT out of the glove box.
..and I though this stuff only happens on TV....quick reminder if you drive-in to Canada. Leave your guns home...somehow these things are not allowed here...we only allow our criminals to have guns. I , for one, thing that a gun rack in my back window would be a cool thing. Or as Robbin Williams once said "The definition of a compasionate conservative is someone who drives a Volvo with a gun rack.
Thank god you were safe and sound. That would really, really freak me out. Might end up driving a Neon after that....
That's a sobering story and puts everything into perspective. Years ago when I was a college student, I was robbed by two youngsters at gunpoint while getting out of my car (a Pontiac) at a fastfood joint near the campus in broad daylight. I gave them the keys, wallet, and watch all without fuss, but they felt the need to club me in the head with the gun barrel anyway. Then as they were running away, one of them turned around and fired off a shot which went through the driver-side window (rolled down at the time) and shattered the passenger side window (with me still sitting in the driver seat). I thanked the Lord it missed me, but made a pact with myself that I'll never let that experience change the way I live my life. Sure I'm evermore vigilant about my surroundings, but these scums will never strip away my dreams, goals, and aspirations (by making me get rid of whatever I have out of fear). They will not prevent me from living the life I've imagined. My only weapon is my vigilance, and it's my hope that'll be enough.
Re-animator, I'm glad you're OK.
...and I though this stuff only happens on TV....
it does or in re-animators head
i s it april 1?...the story is suspect, but even if true, the 'punks' actually did no harm...and if the perpetrators drove hondas i'd laugh first. sorry for seeming to be jaded. i grew up in the seedy side of l.a., reminiscent of the film "falling down."
whatever happened, i wouldn't sell a car over it. carjackers usually pick their victims, not the car.
Dude, in REDMOND? Worried about a spoiled suburban kid boxing you in with his beemer?
I see you driving around occasionally; I'll be sure not to **** you off.
I have to agree with Ucube. I grew up an inner city kid so I know all about being aware of my surroundings (else I probably wouldn't be here now typing this...). But, there's no way I'm selling off possesions out of fear.
Re-animator, I'm glad no injuries resulted; hope you enjoy your new ride.
Cheers.
Punk kids were probably looking for a joyride..... here in good ole' Baltimore, the thugs are too smart to take a Porsche, they would be caught in a second (plus they probably can't drive stick), so the cars that get stolen/jacked are mostly beaters.
Here in the west in NM it is perfectly legal to conceal a firearm in the car. The car is an extension of your home and my loaded and chambered Glock model 19 fits in the center console perfectly.
stiles_s I am as friendly a person as you will ever meet. I am not out on a punk hunt nor am I paranoid about living in Redmond. I have been in a number of altercations in my life and I'll be damned if I'm gonna roll over. People for some reason don't have any boundaries. I am not going to get in a fire fight over someone wanting my car; but if they mean me or my family harm, that's when the gloves come off.I refuse to be a victim. If you see me driving around honk or flag me down; I promise I won't shoot.
Just giving you a hard time. I'll run into you sometime. I think I've seen you (and your car) on 202 a couple times. I wasn't in the Carrera at the time.
Genuinely shocked to read this thread. NOt that I never expect that anyone might try to purloin my car, but that so many of you guys are tooled up. If I ever get Stateside again I will make sure I don't cut any of you up!
If I may introduce a lighter note to the discussion, about 30 years ago I was flagged down by a large African man holding a ladies handbag. I was in my newly restored MGB ( even when they were only a few years old they needed fixing). I deduced that he wasn't trying to pick me up BUT he was looking for a ride out of there (it was a particularly classy part of Liverpool known as Toxteth- where they rioted in the late 80s). I decided not to stop and he came over the bonnet. The look of surprise on his face as he hit the windscreen was a joy to behold. Over the roof and flat on his ar$e in the middle of the road. I drove to the local Police Station to report the incident and after telling the Desk Sergeant my story was invited into the Canteen and made to recount the whole event again.
Loud cheers, free tea and biscuits and a number of "well dones". Still waiting for the writ off Affy.
Hey Lee that's some serious stuff. It says in there that it is made in the USA for them. Do you know if it is available here?
Wonder what it would do on a full leather interior such as mine?!?
I don't know about Redmond, but if this had happened in Medina, then the carjackers would've already been driving a 911 and going after something better.
