Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the battery, but it worked a few times and then stopped working.
Outcome qualification: Negation, uncertainty or missing explicit repair resolution overrides the raw extraction signal.

Before I replaced the head unit in my 2002, I used a Motorola bluetooth system that connected directly to the factory radio.

I had to replace the fob for both the 986 and the 996.

Is there a reasonable way to play via bluetooth adaptor, etc without changing the whole audio system?

I'm not the guy who builds up a bitchen stereo in the car, would prefer to keep it pretty original as well as use the money for our vintage cars, boat, etc...
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

It muted the radio when a call was received, and it worked reasonably well.
Greetings...
Purchased a friend's 2002 a few days ago. I won't bore with the myriad of details, but it's a nice car.
69k miles. In 2007 a factory reman 2005 engine was installed. Recently had water pump & coolant tank replaced. Fundamentally stock & original, and I plan on keeping it so.
All paint is pristine, no little scratches, etc. Interior shows almost no wear. Pretty good for a 16 year old car.
I bought it as a mostly daily driver. We have a small collection of vintage British sports cars, including a couple vintage race cars my wife and I compete in.
Couple of little questions:
Alarm / keys. I've inadvertently set off the alarm a few times. Annoying... Only one of the keys still has the electronic guts. I replaced the battery, but it worked a few times and then stopped working. I am using the old key in the slot method of locking / unlocking, and at times the alarm indicator on the dash won't turn off. Turn left, right, twice, etc, and it still flashes away... I did read the manual, but can't figure this out.
Stereo... My prior daily driver was a very fine Mercedes E550 Coupe. It has an intuitive, superb sound system with bluetooth, etc. The Carrera has the period CR220 w/Bose system & CD changer in trunk. Primitive! Is there a reasonable way to play via bluetooth adaptor, etc without changing the whole audio system? I'm not the guy who builds up a bitchen stereo in the car, would prefer to keep it pretty original as well as use the money for our vintage cars, boat, etc...
Looking forward to seeing how this car works out as a driver in daily use.
Ted
Congrats!
Before I replaced the head unit in my 2002, I used a Motorola bluetooth system that connected directly to the factory radio. I did require a separate mic and it had a speaker that was installed out of sight, underneath the dash. It muted the radio when a call was received, and it worked reasonably well. I'm not sure if that's still an option, but it might be worth a look.
Your local stereo guy can install a bluetooth adaptor IF you have an auxiliary output. I did this in my Rover a few years ago... The sound quality sucks but only cost $145
Very nice. Welcome and congrats!
As for the alarm, you need to put the key in the ignition and turn it on very soon (I think 30 seconds - or maybe less) after unlocking the door with the key. The short battery life is a sign that the fob internals have bit the biscuit and you need a new one - about $350 or so at the dealer. I had to replace the fob for both the 986 and the 996.
Beautiful car! Love the pedals. I have a set on order.
As for the alarm i think it's 10 seconds. I just read the manual front to back ( new owner myself)
No, not a Porsche RSR. A Renault Spec Racer. Predecessor to the SCCA Spec Racer Ford (SRF). Now eligible for vintage racing. Fun, cheap to run, easy to fix. Great purpose built race car that's affordable.
Not my first car. That was a 1940 Pontiac my grandmother left to me when I was three...
I learned to drive in my MG TD though. My dad bought it when I was 13, and 20 years later my wife and I totally restored it. It's still a joy to drive...
Always liked the GT6 and also heard from vintage racing friends that the engines were fragile. Valve train too I think they said. Racing brings out all the faults.
I don't think you can put any bluetooth system that integrates with that factory radio. I researched for mine and found nothing. All the ones that are available made by dension and work only with upgraded stereo and nav. I know however of a guy who retrofits something to the radio internally it cost like 1200 bucks. If u don't care of keeping the factory radio in would just replace it with modern unit.
