Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

28 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

After owning two 911sc's and two 996's (not at the same time) I recently sold my air cooled sc for a lotus elise. I am happy with my decision the car is a lot of fun but I will stick around these forums. (Lotus forums are boring!) Anyway here's my new purchase.

POST 2Original post

Nice! Interior looks like a race car...pretty spartan. Fast? Year?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Yeah, there isn't much to this car inside. It isn't too fast 0-60 like 5 seconds it handles great it weighs less than 2000 pounds and has 190hp

POST 5Original post

Sweet. My local Cars&Coffee has several Elises show up each week

POST 6Original post

Does it have a spare tire, dip stick, who makes the engine?

POST 7Original post

Quotes source post: 13101083

We've looked at them off on too. I like the Exiage better though, but I like a roof They are all like that. Basically you get a chassis, wheels, motor, and radio

POST 8Original post

TOYOTA (Yamaha-designed?)

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13101223

No yes and a 2zz engine found in they toyota celica gts

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13101231

The exige and elise have the same chassis the exige has a removal hardtop (you can also get a hardtop for the elise) the exige body is different but looks similar and has better downforce

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13101247

Yeah they designed the head this engine was originally sourced from the celica gts nothing special

POST 13Original post

Great cars, my girlfriend has an '06. 996 is faster from a roll, but in the twisties the Lotus will RUN from the 996.

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you all for the kind words, if you guys haven't already driven on do so asap on a twisty road of course

POST 17Original post

I like them. But could not afford two. (one for each foot.)

POST 18Original post

Nice purchase. Lotus - since they switched to reliable motors - no longer means "Lots Of Trouble, Usually Serious." Here's the $20 question: Can you get into it wearing a suit without having at least one hand on the ground? I tried an Exige on for size...nope.

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13101923

I don't wear suits but with practice you get used to doing it semi gracefully

POST 20 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you!

Couldn't agree more. If you're not using it for the twisties, you're in the wrong car. I was playing with a pack of sports cars a few years back, and the two Lotuses were quicker than everything else in the mountains - but once we hit the desert, they were brutalized. An extra hundred horsepower doesn't seem that important until you're trying to accelerate from 80 to 100...

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 13101937

That's what I hear - I'll leave the Lotuses to slightly smaller dudes with no arthritis...

Toyota makes them is the 2ZR-FE engine supercharged, same as the Corolla, without the supercharger and the aluminum block of course.

POST 25Original post

Lotus has remained true to its roots with light weight being the key. I'd say that you made a great choice and you must have a blast driving such a light car. Congrats.

POST 26Original post

Love the Lotus! Honestly is my second choice, but I'm 6'4" and the 996 barely fits me with a helmet. I owned a Celica gts for a short time in 2000. I found the engine to be poorly balanced. You had to keep it above 5k RPM for the VVTi system to be fully engage. I hope they resolved this in your Elise. It was almost like extreme turbo lag.

POST 27 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13103020

Lotus messed with the ecu but otherwise the engine is the same. The second cam doesn't hit untill 6200 rpms

POST 28 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 13102505

The engine isn't from a corolla rather the celica gts mine isn't supercharged but in the later years they made a supercharged version the elise s.
