Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everybody, Im about to replace both inner and outer tie rods on my 00 C2, but am having a hard time figuring out which steering rack bellows I need for the inner section - #2 on this diagram . It looks like there are two different PNs for them ( 996-347-191-02 and 996-347-191-04 ). The Pelican parts department told me that two steering racks used on my car ( 996-347-011-05 and 996-347-011-06/07 ) and one bellows matches the 05 the other the 06/07. Anyone know how to tell which steering rack I have? Thanks in advance!

POST 3Original post

Dealer should be able to look it up based in your vin. Just call thr parts department

POST 6Original post

I just went through this exercise, on a Saturday, so no luck with finding a dealer parts person. Take the front plastic undertray off the car and look up at the rack where the steering wheel shaft comes in (LH drive cars). Then move along to the right, along the back of the rack. The part number is there. Bring a bright light and sharp eyes, or maybe a borescope. Mine is "996.347.011.07".

POST 7Original post

I can say today for sure that 996-347-191-02 dos not fit a 2002 C4. The inner side ID is too small. I ended up reusing my old boots. Probably too late to try and return what I have
