Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

8 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a 1999 C4 tiptronic. The issue, although minor, is annoying. When releasing the brake pedal quickly, the pedal springs back into rest position with a clunk or bang. It is as though the spring (or whatever it is that returns the pedal to rest position) pushes the pedal back to its rest positon with enough force that the pedal hits hard making the clunk sound when it should be dampened just before it comes to a rest. This is the best I can describe it. It is the pedal, not anything else in the brake system. I thought that maybe is was a spring or rubber bump stop or something that may have failed that no longer dampened the pedal, but I don't see anything up there or in diagrams. Any insight from someone out there?

POST 2Original post

I experience the same so would also like some help on the matter.

POST 4Original post

It it hitting the bracket when returning quickly? U can adjust the brake padal height. Its not the easiest thing to get to but its under the cown plasticn inside the bellow to the mc. Maybe u can adjust it down a little so it wont clunck when it retuns. U will also have to reset the brake switch.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks dejeeper. But I am a little unclear as to what you are saying.

POST 6Original post

If you look at part # 29 , that is adjustable to shorten the rod length so the brake pedal arm doesn't hit so hard on release. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=604-00

Basically lower the brake pedal so when it returns it doesnt hit the bracket. See diagrams.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks John and DeJeeper. This will be my mini project for the end of the month! I'll post back if it solved the issue.
