Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I replaced the casings and the microswitches on the circuit boards to get them back to a more normal operating condition.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi guys. First time poster here. I have a 2001 C4 with 40,000 miles on the clock. My top has been going up automatically after I stop and turn the ignition off. At first this was happening when I would engage the parking brake and turn the ignition off only. Now it does it when the parking brake is NOT engaged. Anyone have an issue like this and if so what was the fix? Thank you.

POST 2 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Update: I opened the top with the door lock and the problem with the top closing automatically when I shut the car off seems to have gone away. It may be a coincidence. I don't know.

POST 3Original post

It's a pretty unusual problem. A code reader might shed some light on it, but you probably need a Porsche-specific unit, one that can talk to the convertible top subsystem. My Durametric claims to do this; however I have a targa, the Durametric claims to talk to that too, only it doesn't. In other words caveat emptor. EDIT: Since it might be keyfob related, both keyfobs for my 2002 targa were in pretty sad shape when I got them. I replaced the casings and the microswitches on the circuit boards to get them back to a more normal operating condition.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks wdb. I can tell you the only key I have is not in great shape. I will look into that.

POST 5Original post

Whether or not the problem comes back, it might be worth it for you to investigate if the previous owner installed a Smart Top module. That sounds suspiciously like a user-programmed Smart Top option (top goes up after car is turned off.) https://www.motivemods.com/Mods4Cars...4c-stafpe1.htm Maybe check and see if your car can do any of these other things with the key.
