Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Everyone! Im the hesitant new owner of a beautiful US version 2003 996.2 C2 and have been poking around to see what it is Ive really acquired. With my head stuck in the driver footwell, I pulled off the trim panel just to the right of the gas pedal, exposing the area at the head of the center console. Behind the panel I discovered this hacked up wiring plug, not plugged into anything. The brown and green/black wires have been cut and spliced to a generic pair of wires with an in-line fuse holder. This wire snakes off towards the left side of the car, stuck in the trim above the pedals, and disappears behind the far left side of the dash. Any ideas on what it could be? I think everything works, I wasnt looking for a problem but just exploring when I found it. Also, there doesnt appear to be any place for this modified plug to plug into. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Not sure what the plug is from but usually thats a power and ground for a hidden radar detector hack.

POST 3Original post

That plug supplies switched 12V power for the car phone option. Its a great source to tap for 12V switched power. If a dash cam isnt installed, most likely a hidden radar detector or tracker.

POST 5Original post

Does anyone know the part no. for the mating plug for the power supply for the cell phone option? It would be nice to be able to get that to connect an accessory like a redar detector.
