Then I would take some electrical cleaner and spray the crap out of the switch, several times, while testing the fore/aft seat switch.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My C4S 2002 right seat forward and back doesnt work. I managed to get it back a while back but no luck now. Im hopefully selling this car this week. I told buyer about seat and he was okay with the situation but now my seat is all the way forward. I had mechanic replace rear springs. He moved seat forward not knowing it wouldnt go back. Totally my fault so now I have to figure out the best damage control. Suggestions? Im okay pulling seat, I just dont want to drop 300 for new switch.

POST 2Original post

Hmmm...I have the same dilemma with my drivers seat. I did a lot of troubleshooting on the seat switch, seat motors and seat memory module. I came to the conclusion the seat memory module got fried. Not going to spend $3,000 for a new seat memory module. If you can look under the front of the seat. You are looking for the two white plastic pins that hold the seat bottom to the seat frame, one pin is on the left and one on the right. Pull the pins down to release the seat bottom from the seat frame. This allows you to lift up and tilt back the entire seat bottom. Watch out and be careful, there are a bunch of wires attached to the seat bottom. Doing this will allow you to remove the two screws holding the seat adjustment panel on the side of the seat. I would first start by making sure everything is plugged in the seat adjustment panel. Then I would take some electrical cleaner and spray the crap out of the switch, several times, while testing the fore/aft seat switch. Who knows, maybe it will work. Good luck.
