Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I started a M96 cracked head swap program where I had already repaired cracked heads that were vapor blasted and welded and 5 angle valve job all done and ready to go for the swap program, but the demand just wasn't enough to justify, so I abandoned it...

I would recommend Len Hoffman also, I have been to his small shop and he has been steady with M96 work for years...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Greetings all, I recently got my LN Engineering 3.6 to 4.0 conversion back, along with pistons and rods. I'm ready to start the rebuild but I want to have my heads looked over, polished, etc. I also need some blasting done to all my external engine parts. I had one lined up but alas time got away from me and I lost their contact information. So I'm back to square one looking for a shop that can handle our water-cooled engines. I got a quote for 300 each if that rings a bell. Thanks!
Yogi
My guy is in Alabama not Texas..
His cylinder head shop covered a whole city block. ( largest in the state) The guy could fix any head aluminum or iron. His son and my son raced BMX bikes together..He could take a warped aluminum cylinder head and bolt it down on w 2inch thick steel plate and put it in a big oven to heat it up and place shims under certain places and straighten a cylinder head to within 0.001" to make the cam bores straight and not have to "deck" the head more than a thou...
He fixed my m96 cracked head over 15 years ago and still going strong.. I started a M96 cracked head swap program where I had already repaired cracked heads that were vapor blasted and welded and 5 angle valve job all done and ready to go for the swap program, but the demand just wasn't enough to justify, so I abandoned it... He probably hasn't seen an M96 head since...lol But he has cylinder head jobs out the yazooo ...lol

Thanks again Skip. I'm hoping the guy I spoke to 4 months ago was from Scoggins here in Houston. I dropped $525 to ship my case to LN so I'm trying to stay local. I refuse to believe that there isn't a decent machine shop in the 4th largest city in the country that can handle cylinder head work and bead blasting.
I'm not, this dude knows his schtuff. He's worked on water-cooled 911's before. I just lost his contact info. Now I found it. Thanks for everyone's help me shake the cobwebs off my old brain. Next time I'm going to write it down. lol
The biggest difference is that you can drive all the way across Alabama on Interstate 20 in less than 2 hours, from here it takes all day long to drive to Texas , then takes another full day to drive across Texas..
Everything is bigger in Texas ..lol
Yogi has been through a lot, lol. He was either going to get a good answer to his question or a headjob. And sadly for our friend, he got his question answered.
Hoffman is great but expensive. There are a couple of shops here, Rennsport uses one guy. A Hoffman job with the performance set up not bigger valve is $2k. $4-$5k jobs with the kitchen sink are available too.
