I installed Soul Performance cats with a sport exhaust and love the sound, YMMV...

Getting my new Soul Performance Sports Cats installed tomorrow, can't wait to hear it along side the factory sports exhaust.

Suggestion
If the code returns and/or the cruise doesn't work properly I would change the clutch's cruise switch.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Driving 70 miles home earlier today in my 996 4s, car running perfectly fine in stop and go traffic traffic and suddenly the CEL light and associated message pops up. No performance issues at all so I continued home without issue. Hooked up the Durametric and got the following codes which I've cleared for now:
My indy had already told me the cats were shot and we have Soul Performance Sports Cats on order so that isn't a concern, but what should I make of the clutch code? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Sorry I can't be of assistance to diag your fault codes, but if it helps to know your not alone; I just got my car back, from a main dealer, and it has a CEL and air bag light on, that was never on before. Oh and the temp guage is steady at 190-200 and the cooling fans won't shut off, and they nicked a connector and there's exposed wires 🤷♂️ 🙄🤦♂️
You could make a hat, or a ... no wait that's a different movie.
There is no clutch encoder per se on the car, there are two clutch switches. One prevents starting the car until the clutch is depressed. The other shuts off the cruise control when the clutch is pressed down.
I'd clear the code and see if it comes back. I'd check if the cruise control works, and if the cruise shuts off when the clutch is pressed.
If the code returns and/or the cruise doesn't work properly I would change the clutch's cruise switch. I think the starter interlock switch is white and has two separate wires with separate connectors and the clutch's cruise switch is black and has the wires in one connector.
Thanks for the responses. I will check to see if the cruise control works. I've only engaged it 1x in 34k miles just to play around, doubt I'll ever use it again. CEL didn't return today after a 30 mile trip but I expect it will. Getting my new Soul Performance Sports Cats installed tomorrow, can't wait to hear it along side the factory sports exhaust.
Cruise control was totally inoperable as I drove to drop my 4s off for installation of new sports cats. Got it back today and they installed a new clutch switch and all operational again. Under a $30 fix, hard to ever say that about 996 repair. Sports cats sound nice but it was raining so I really didn't give them a workout.
Beautiful morning to test out the SP Sports Cats. I will preface my comments with the following: My 996 4s has factory sports exhaust and has always had a lovely sound, especially north of 3500-4000 rpm. Then I bought a 997.2 with aftermarket hi flow headers, valved exhaust mufflers and a Sharkwerks bypass. This car is very loud, gurgles, sounds like its spitting fire, almost hard to explain. I first thought it was borderline obnoxious, especially for a 60 year old. Now I love every second of it. After putting nearly 5,000 miles on the 997 in the past few months I went back to driving the 996 and my first reaction was it sounded like an electric car compared to the 997, such a difference that I even questioned if my sports exhaust was working.
With that said, today's drive with the newly installed cats was noticeably louder, almost as if you are getting the factory sports exhaust sound starting at 2k rpm. That's my initial reaction, it brings the low end rpm to life and enhances the higher end some.
Just to follow up on the Soul Performance Sports Cats, today I was driving very slowly (max 25) through a 55+ golf community and after parking someone passed me on a bicycle and commented on the beautiful exhaust sound. They really bring the low end to life and enhance the already awesome factory sports exhaust.
