Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Reported fix
The Alfa-N engine management system is a "lesser sophisticated management system" that was commonly used on earlier EFI cars, and is still used in some aftermarket EFI systems even today. Once the MAF Sensor issue is resolved, the system will return to it's normally scheduled program...

Obviously there are plenty of things to look at in the fuel/air/vacuum system, starting at the air intake, MAF, throttle body, intake runners, injectors, fuel rail, pressure regulator, all the vacuum lines, (cracked oil fill?) etc...

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Ok my car is dead in the water it starts but doesnt hold idle dies quickly my car beyond the capacity of my local guy I need a specialist
I will tow it any choice tech within a 100 miles of Nyc
please help
Mike
South Shore performance (Freeport Long Island) has a great reputation. There are several well regarded shops in western Suffolk and or Nassau County as well. Check out the Metro NY PCA site for addresses/phone #s... Good Luck
Clearly theres spark as the car starts. This points to either a fuel or vacuum/air problem. Obviously there are plenty of things to look at in the fuel/air/vacuum system, starting at the air intake, MAF, throttle body, intake runners, injectors, fuel rail, pressure regulator, all the vacuum lines, (cracked oil fill?) etc... Any shop with experience with these engines should be able to nail it fairly quickly (unless theyre looking to fleece you)... Good Luck
South Shore Performance (AKA Rudtners) is my go-to shop. Bill Rudtner is the current president of the Metro NY Region of PCA and chief DE instructor and is great to work with. Not cheap, but really good.
I bring my car to Eurotech Motorsports in Mahwah, NJ. Danek, the owner, runs a tight ship and has a fantastic team in place.
There's a shop called Powertech in Rockaway, NJ. Never brought my car there, but they seem very well respected:
https://www.pwr-tech.com/
Hope either of these help!
Powertech in Rockaway NJ probably knows the most about these cars. Not cheap.
I take my 996 to Euro-Tech Motors in East Hanover:
https://www.facebook.com/EuroTecMotorsInc/
I can recommend them. Knowledgeable and fair.

Awesome! as Porschetech has said you can use it much as you need for now, no issue (CEL will be on). Gives you a chance to find your air leak or dead MAF
cheers,
